- The Cowboys and Rams clash on Sunday Night Football (Sept. 13, 8:20 pm EST)
- Which player props offer value in what could be a shootout in brand new SoFi Stadium?
- Read below for analysis and favorite picks for SNF in Week 1
Capping off the first full day of the season is a star-studded Sunday Night matchup, that will see America’s Team visit the latest stars of Hard Knocks in Hollywood. Originally scheduled to be the grand opening of SoFi Stadium, this game will now be played without fans, perhaps explaining why visiting Dallas is favored on the road in the Cowboys vs Rams odds.
Originally in doubt due to the smoke from all the wildfires in the area, the game appears to be going ahead, with the air quality in the Inglewood area around 150 (below the NFL’s 200 threshold). The temperature should be around 77 degrees at kickoff.
Which players will go off to start the new season? We’ve got picks below.

Same Ol’ Gameplan for Big D?
Jason Garrett’s conservative, run-heavy play calling on early downs is gone. Does that mean Dallas will suddenly be an all-out aerial attack? Probably not.
For one, the Cowboys racked up 263 yards on the ground in their last meeting with the Rams in December. Secondly, with the odd camps teams have gone through, it’s looking like teams will be keeping it simple on offense out of the gate. We saw the pass-happy Chiefs run the ball 34 times on Thursday night to great success, partly because defenders haven’t had much practice tackling.
Maybe I'm overreacting but this is an ELITE run by CEH pic.twitter.com/joDXpDUOAR

If the Rams aren’t ready to wrap up, why would Mike McCarthy want to go away from Ezekiel Elliot in this spot? Look for the Boys feature back to have a nice open to the season here.
Pick: 1 unit on Elliot OVER 79.5 yards rushing (-110)
Gunnin’ With Goff
This Dallas secondary is suddenly suspect with the departure of Byron Jones and with questions surrounding the Rams run game, this could be a spot where a big Jared Goff game is needed to keep it close.

Goff closed out 2019 throwing for over 285 yards in four of his final five games. The only game he fell short was against Dallas when he put up a paltry 284. Look for him to pick up a few extra yards here.
Pick: 1 unit on Goff OVER 285.5 yards passing (+100)
Cowboys vs Rams Scoring Props
Team | Odds to Score 1st TD | Odds to Score Any TD at FanDuel |
---|---|---|
Ezekiel Elliot (DAL) | +550 | -175 |
Cooper Kupp (LAR) | +650 | +135 |
Amari Cooper (DAL) | +900 | +135 |
Robert Woods (LAR) | +1000 | +175 |
Michael Gallup (DAL) | +1000 | +165 |
Tyler Higbee (LAR) | +1000 | +185 |
Cam Akers (LAR) | +1200 | +190 |
Malcolm Brown (LAR) | +1200 | +200 |
Tony Pollard (DAL) | +1300 | +240 |
CeeDee Lamb (DAL) | +1400 | +260 |
Stickin With Zeke
We’re also not getting too fancy on the first score props for this one. Elliot had the first Cowboys TD in four games last season, while the Rams allowed 15 scores on the ground in 2019. A hungry Zeke should have plenty to eat in this spot.

From LA’s side of things, Tyler Higbee is good value here. The Rams tight end saw 14 red zone targets in 2019, second-most on the team to Cooper Kupp.
Pick: 0.5 unit on Elliott (+550) and Higbee (+1000) to score first TD
Kupp Runneth Over
I like a lot of Cooper Kupp’s props, but none more than this nugget.
Player to Have More Receiving Yards | Odds at DraftKings |
---|---|
Michael Gallup | -124 |
Cooper Kupp | +100 |
Gallup drew pretty consistent targets from Prescott in his second season (finishing with just six or fewer targets in only four games), but wasn’t always able to turn those looks into catches. With CeeDee Lamb now in the fold, it’s unlikely Gallup will see a big increase in his 113 targets from last year, meaning he’ll look to improve on a 58.4% catch rate in 2019.
As for Kupp, he caught 70.1% of his 134 targets and could be in line for more now that Brandin Cooks is gone. He started last season topping 100 yards in four of his first five games and should come out of the gate hot this year as well, on the heels of a nice new contract extension.
The #Rams and WR Cooper Kupp have reached an agreement on a 3-year contract extension worth up to $48M, per me and @MikeGarafolo. Los Angeles has done work the last few days, with Jalen Ramsey going first and now Kupp. Time for football.

Gallup might be more of a big play receiver between the two, but I’ll back the guy that’s consistently getting catches at even odds.
Pick: 1 unit on Kupp to have more receiving yards than Gallup (+100)
