One week of football doesn’t settle much, but it does show how teams plan to use their best players. For early Week 2 props, I want players with a defined role and a number they can beat without repeating their best game.
That starts with a Bills quarterback hosting a Detroit defense that just allowed 410 passing yards, then moves to a pair of rushing props driven by workload. Here are the NFL props I’m targeting for Week 2.
NFL Week 2 Player Props to Target
These projected targets are not posted sportsbook lines. Check current lines at BetMGM and see our BetMGM promo code guide for current offers. You can also compare NFL betting apps before placing a bet.
NFL Player Prop Pick: Josh Allen Passing Yards
Josh Allen didn’t need big volume to carve up the Texans in Week 1. He completed 20 of 29 passes for 334 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in a 36-31 win at Houston.
He spread the ball around, too. DJ Moore and Dalton Kincaid combined for 230 receiving yards, so Allen isn’t leaning on one target to move the offense. That makes Buffalo a tough team to slow down through the air.
The Lions gave up 410 passing yards to Tyler Shough in their opener. He went 35-of-56 with three touchdowns and two interceptions, and Detroit still escaped with a 31-30 overtime win.
That yardage came on a heavy workload, and Allen doesn’t need anything close to it. He threw for 334 yards on 29 attempts, which is 27 fewer than Shough.
A 220.5 target leaves plenty of room. Allen can fall well short of his Week 1 performance and still cash the over, and he gets the Lions at home on Thursday night.
- Early Bet: Josh Allen over 220.5 passing yards
NFL Player Prop Pick: Derrick Henry Rushing Yards
Baltimore gave Derrick Henry plenty of work in the opener. He carried 24 times for 144 yards and three touchdowns in a 41-23 win at Indianapolis.
For a yardage prop, the carries matter more than the scores. The Ravens kept feeding Henry in a game they won comfortably, and that kind of volume can get him over this number even if the big runs don’t show up.
New Orleans just spent an overtime game trying to slow down Jahmyr Gibbs, without much luck. Gibbs ran 29 times for 156 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 5.4 yards per carry. Now the Saints have to deal with Henry.
Henry averaged 6.0 yards per carry against the Colts, but this bet doesn’t need that kind of efficiency. Even at 4.0 per carry, 20 attempts would put him over the target.
If Baltimore gives him anything close to his Week 1 volume at home on Sunday, 78.5 is a number I’m happy to bet the over on.
- Early Bet: Derrick Henry over 78.5 rushing yards
NFL Player Prop Pick: Caleb Williams Rushing Yards
Caleb Williams ran a lot more than usual in Week 1. He carried 10 times for 65 yards and two touchdowns, well above the 4.5 carries per game he averaged last season. That’s the kind of usage you want to see for a quarterback rushing prop.
His 2025 numbers already support this bet. Williams finished with 77 carries for 388 yards and three touchdowns over 17 games, which works out to 22.8 rushing yards per game. The 20.5 target sits below that average before Week 1 even enters the picture.
The carries could settle back down, and that’s fine. Williams averaged 5.0 yards per carry last season, so he doesn’t need double-digit attempts to reach the low 20s.
With the Vikings visiting Chicago on Sunday, I’m taking the over at 20.5. His average last season was already above this target, and he ran more often in the opener.
- Early Bet: Caleb Williams over 20.5 rushing yards
