Every Super Bowl Halftime Show Prop You Can Bet for J-Lo and Shakira’s Performance

• Given what transpired after Janet Jackson’s wardrobe malfunction, we’re not likely to see any mistakes of that kind with Shakira and J-Lo
• But we have seen cleavage multiple times in recent years (Fergie, Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj)
• Taking a flier on a Jay-Z appearance makes sense as he was brought on to coordinate this halftime show

Jennifer Lopez and Shakira are set to be the halftime act at Super Bowl 54. Naturally, the sportsbooks have posted a slew of props on the lovely ladies, creating odds on everything from what they’ll wear to who will join them on stage.

The popular “first song” prop has been pulled as we get closer to game day, but here’s a look at every other halftime prop on the board at the major sportsbooks, followed by a handful of my favorite bets.

Will There Be A Wardrobe Malfunction?

We can really lump a number of things in one here as there are a few props that are all basically related here. We’ve got props like ‘Will J-Lo show butt cleavage?’ and ‘Will there be a wardrobe malfunction?’ and will ‘Either Shakira or J-Lo have side boob?’. To me, these all tie back into the same thing.

Back in 2004, Janet Jackson made millions of jaws collectively drop at the same time when she had a wardrobe malfunction on stage during her performance with Justin Timberlake. Timberlake tore at a piece of her clothing and her bare breast was revealed.

Since then, the league has been extra-cautious not to get into any more incidents like that. The immediate follow-up act was Paul McCartney in 2005, then The Rolling Stones in 2006, Prince in 2007, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers in 2008, Bruce Springsteen in 2009 and The Who in 2010. Are you sensing a theme?

They clearly went away from breasts of any kind to begin with and didn’t even have a lead performer with a female until The Black Eyed Peas in 2011. We eventually returned to seeing more females and they’ve all played it safe. Madonna was conservatively dressed, Nicki Minaj and Destiny’s Child showed limited cleavage and Lady Gaga showed none.

While I’m expecting some sexy skirts and cleavage at Super Bowl Sunday, I’m not expecting to see side boob, full boob (wardrobe malfunction) or any butt cleavage. I’d bet ‘No’ for all of those.

Who Will Show Cleavage During Performance?

Building on the previous prop, I actually do like the line at -250 that we’ll see both ladies showing some cleavage. Both women aren’t the most boobylicious of performers but their girls do tend to peek out from time to time when it’s appropriate. More importantly, it seems like the Super Bowl has thawed its cold shoulder to the cleav.

It really started with Fergie as she brought it back during The Black Eyed Peas performance. It was minor but it was the first return since the Janet Jackson incident. Nicki Minaj also showed a little bit during the Madonna set. Then we saw Destiny’s Child on display. Katy Perry also showed a sliver.

Add it all up and it seems like we’re likely to see a little bit of tasteful cleavage from both ladies on Super Bowl Sunday. I’d bet on it at -250.

Will Jennifer Lopez And Shakira Kiss?

We’re looking a heavy odds for the ‘No’, which is sensible. For a broadcast that is looking to avoid any kind of sexual innuendo and controversy, an on-stage kiss between the two stars is not something they’re looking for on Super Bowl Sunday.

Would a lot of the guys in the audience be excited about it? Of course. Would the hordes of conservative fans, families or religious fans who are still anti-LGBT be open to it? Not really. The NFL doesn’t want to create any type of discussion that focuses more on the halftime performance than the game itself.

Will Gerard Pique Be Shown During The Halftime Show?

Although there’s lots of juice on this one, this seems like it’s a bit of a stretch to me. If you’re not familiar with Pique, he is a famous soccer player in Spain who’s been dating Shakira since 2011.

To start, the two aren’t married and Shakira – according to recent interviews – has no plans to marry him. While they’ve had a long, healthy relationship, the fact that they’re not married won’t help his cause of being shown.

Secondly, and more importantly, Pique is currently playing for FC Barcelona, which has games this week on Thursday and Sunday – yes, Super Bowl Sunday – so unless he’s planning to be flown over by private jet after his game, we’re not likely to see him. His Sunday game starts at 3:00 PM Spanish time.

Will Jay-Z Be Shown During The Halftime Show?

If you’re wondering what the Jay-Z tie here it is actually two-fold: to start, he rejected doing a Super Bowl halftime show last year because he “didn’t like the process”. This year, though, he signed a deal with the NFL to help with their social image and he’s actually had a big hand in coordinating this year’s show.

Jay-Z not only selected Jennifer Lopez to perform at this year’s game but he also looped in Roc Nation-signee Shakira. He’s been seen with both of them after the announcement, likely discussing or planning the show.

Taking a look at the odds here, it doesn’t look like they take into account that he had a big role in this. He’s at -1500 not to be shown, but I wouldn’t mind taking a small flier on him appearing in the broadcast at +600. It actually makes sense for him to be there.
