Chiefs vs Cardinals NFL Betting Trends

In order to beat the Chiefs, Arizona must overcome the Week 1 perfection of Mahomes. Since he took over as Kansas City QB1 in 2018, the Chiefs are 4-0 straight up and 3-1 against the spread.

The Chiefs opened as the 3.5-point chalk over the Cardinals and the line has grown to 6 points, displaying significant action in the NFL line movement. At 53 points, this game is also showing the highest total of any Week 1 contest.

In NFL public betting splits, the people are backing Kansas City. Spread wagering is showing 76% of handle and 67% of bets are on the Chiefs. In moneyline wagering, 71% of handle and 67% of bets are supporting KC. The over is getting the action on the total. There’s 68% of handle and 77% of bets supporting the teams going over 53 points.

Both Kansas City (4th) and Arizona (10th) were top-10 passing teams in the NFL last season.

In Week 1, Mahomes Is The Man

In college, Kingsbury got to gameplan to take advantage of the incredible skills of Mahomes. For the first time as a coach, he must come up with a method to put a governor on those unique talents.

Good luck with that, Kliff. Mahomes opened as the betting favorite in the NFL MVP odds.

As a Week 1 NFL starter, Mahomes is 4-0 straight up and 3-1 against the spread. He has thrown for 13 TDs, and never fewer than three in a game. That’s a good stat to know, because the total on Mahomes TD passes in the Chiefs vs Cardinals player props is 2.5. You can get odds of +132 on that wager, so what are you waiting for?

Both Teams Missing Key Pieces

This will be the first time that Mahomes will play a game without his #1 deep threat. Wideout Tyreek Hill, scorer of nine TDs last season, was dealt to Miami in the offseason.

Arizona is also without the club’s top receiver. DeAndre Hopkins is sitting out the first of a four-game NFL suspension for a PED violation.

On the injury front, Cardinals WR Rondale Moore (hamstring) is out. Tight end Zac Ertz (calf) and LG Justin Pugh (neck) are questionable. On defense, LDE JJ Watt (calf) and LCB Byron Murphy Jr (illness) are questionable. Murphy’s backup Trayvon Mullen (toe) is out.

The Chiefs report no injuries to starters.

Caesars Offering Mahomes Odds Boost

Caesars Sportsbook is offering a Week 1 super boost with a maximum bet of $100. Bet on a parlay of Mahomes to go over 2.5 TD passes and 299.5 yards passing in your Chiefs vs Cardinals prop bets and get odds of +275.

A winning wager at the maximum amount of $100 offers an implied probability of success of  26.67% and a payout of $375.

Chiefs vs Cardinals Prediction

Kansas City is 11-2 SU in the month of September with Mahomes at QB. He’s passed for 4,244 yards in those games, with 328 completions. That works out to 12.9 yards per completion. There’s been 41 TD passes against only three interceptions.

The departure of Hill hasn’t hurt the Chiefs as much as it’s given them motivation and a rallying cry to show those critics who are writing them off how wrong they are in that assessment.

Unfortunately for the injury-weakened Cardinals, they’ll get the first taste of KC vengeance.

Pick: Kansas City Chiefs -6 (-113); 1 unit
