No one will be mocking the schedule-makers this Sunday night when the Miami Dolphins (5-1, 2-1 away, 5-1 ATS) visit the Philadelphia Eagles (5-1, 2-0 home, 3-2-1 ATS) on SNF.

In this battle between two legitimate Super Bowl contenders, the Eagles are listed as slight home favorites a week after suffering their first loss of the season. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:20 pm ET at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

Dolphins vs Eagles Odds

Team Spread Moneyline Total
Miami Dolphins +3 (-115) +125 Over 51.5 (-110)
Philadelphia Eagles  -3 (-105) -150 Under 51.5 (-110)

Philadelphia is currently a three-point favorite in the Week 7 NFL odds and -150 on the moneyline to win straight-up. The Phins come back as a +125 underdog while the game total is at a Week 7-high 51.5, which is four points more than any other total on the board.

The opening Week 7 odds listed Philadelphia as a 2.5-point favorite and, despite the majority of ATS and moneyline handle going to the Dolphins, the point spread has moved half a point towards the home team.

If the postseason started today, the Dolphins would be the #2 seed in the AFC section of the NFL playoff bracket, while the Eagles would get the NFC’s lone bye.

Miami Dolphins vs Philadelphia Eagles Public Betting Trends

As of late Saturday night, Miami was getting 61% of ATS handle in the NFL public betting splits. The Dolphins were also getting the lion’s share of the moneyline handle, sitting at 58% to win straight-up as +125 underdogs.

The public is relatively divided on the total, but what difference exists leans to the over. So far 56% of money wagered on the Miami vs Philadelphia game total is on over 51.5. Miami is 4-2 over/under on the year while the Eagles are an even 3-3 O/U.

The Dolphins are tied for the best ATS record in the NFL after six weeks at 5-1. Their only loss against the number was also their only loss on the scoreboard, a thoroughly disappointing 48-20 rout at the hands of division-rival Buffalo.

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa continues to lead the league in passing with 1,876 yards through six games (312.7 YPG). His top target, Tyreek Hill, leads the NFL in receiving at 814 yards (142 more than any other player) while Miami’s two-headed backfield of De’Von Achane (460 yards) and Raheem Mostert (429 yards) sit fourth and seventh, respectively, rushing yards.

Eagles’ Perfect Record Falls to Jets

While Miami’s high-flying offense has been generating a ton of love from the betting public all year, one of the main reasons bettors are shying away from the Eagles this week is the fact that Philadelphia suffered its first loss of the season last weekend against the Aaron Rodgers-less Jets.

Turnovers undid Philadelphia in Week 6; they out-gained New York by over 100 yards (348 to 244) but committed the only four turnovers of the game, including a career-high-tying three picks from quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Hurts, who threw just six interceptions all of last season, has already surpassed that with seven though his first half-dozen games in 2023. But there’s also been plenty of good from the fourth-year pivot and the Eagle offense.

Hurts sits tenth in passing yards (1,542) and his completion percentage of 66.2% is almost identical to last season. Lead back D’Andre Swift sits sixth in the NFL in rushing yards with 452, while wideout AJ Brown is second only to Hill in receiving yards.

Hill has a Week 7-high receiving yards over/under of 95.5 while Brown is as high as 82.5 in the NFL player props.

Dolphins vs Eagles Prediction

The defending NFC champions aren’t getting a lot of respect ahead of just their third home game of the season. Take a closer look at Miami’s opponents and then reassess your confidence in this team, or at least your certainty. The Dolphins own wins over the Chargers, Patriots, Broncos, Giants, and Panthers. The following table illustrates just how weak that quintet of victories is.

Miami Dolphins 2023 Victories

Week/Opponent W/L Record DVOA Rank Point Differential
(1) Chargers 2-3 14th +3
(2) Patriots 1-5 28th -80
(3) Broncos 1-5 30th -71
(5) Giants 1-5 32nd -96
(6) Panthers 0-6 31st -74

Not one of Miami’s wins has come against a team with a winning record. Only the Chargers have more than one victory, and their contest with Miami was a back-and-forth 36-34 affair which could have gone either way.

The Dolphins’ only game against a winning team this season was the aforementioned blowout in Buffalo. Miami’s defense looked hapless in the first half, giving up four majors before the break. Buffalo is the only top-ten pass rush Miami has faced this season (per PFF) and they were able to sack Tua Tagovailoa four times.

Philly’s pass rush isn’t on the near-record-setting pace it sustained throughout 2022, but Haason Reddick and company still have 20 sacks on the year (fifth in the NFL) and four players already have three or more.  Don’t expect Miami to suffer another 28-point defeat but do expect the Eagles to stay perfect at home.
