Odds Say Falcons Will Not Trade Vic Beasley Before Deadline

The market for a potential Vic Beasley trade has been “weak” according to a report this week. Jeff Schultz from the Athletic said the Falcons have been shopping Beasley, but there’s been little to no interest in the defensive end.
That hasn’t stopped sportsbooks from offering a prop bet on whether Beasley will be traded this season, though it has led to ‘No’ coming in as the -150 favorite.

With a 1-6 record through seven weeks of action, the Falcons’ season is all but over, and that reality could lead to a fire sale. Beasley is one of the first players the Falcons could move, but the Pro Bowler comes with a price tag of $12.81 million this season.
The thing that could make Beasley’s situation appealing for other teams is that he’d be a pure rental. Beasley is set to become a free agent at the end of the season.

Beasley’s best season came in 2016 when the former Clemson standout led the NFL in sacks with 15.5. However, it’s been downhill for Beasley ever since, as he finished with 5.0 sacks in both 2017 and 2018. Heading into Week 8, Beasley has just 14 tackles and 1.5 sacks, which has made his trade value plummet.
Looking at Beasley’s career stats from 2016 to 2019, there’s a significant drop-off in production in many areas.

Will the Falcons be able to find Beasley a new home despite his struggles over the last two seasons?
Although Beasley’s sack count has dropped, putting him in another situation — preferably in a winning atmosphere — could resurrect his career. There are a handful of teams that could be a good fit — specifically contenders in need of sacks.
Ravens, Seahawks, Packers Potential Landing Spots For Beasley
As good as Baltimore has been offensively this season, the Ravens are near the bottom of the league in sacks with 12 heading into Week 8. The Ravens have a decent defense, especially in the secondary since adding Marcus Peters; a move to bring in Beasley could improve their sub-par pass rush.
The Seattle Seahawks are another team that could use Beasley’s services. Seattle is ranked 16th in total defense, allowing 357 yards per game. But the Seahawks have only recorded 11 sacks on the season, which is the fifth-fewest among all 32 NFL teams.
The Green Bay Packers are another team that would make some sense. With 18 sacks this season, the Packers aren’t terrible in that category, but the team sits in the middle of the pack going into Week 8.
The NFL trade deadline is set for Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 4 PM ET, so Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff is running out of time to find a trading partner. Even though Beasley is a rental, the defensive end’s hefty contract for this season is still scaring teams away.
