  • The NFL Draft begins Thursday April 25th
  • The SEC is favored to have the most players selected in the opening round
  • The BIG12 O/U is set at 3.5 but it will still be tough to reach for a conference lacking top end NFL talent

Time is ticking and the 2019 NFL Draft is almost here (Thursday, Apr 25th).

Online betting sites have props out that will keep you entertained throughout the entire first round. Among them are a series of Over/Unders on how many players from the five power conferences will be picked in the first round.

First Round Conference Over/Unders in 2019 NFL Draft

Conference O/U 1st-Round Picks Over Odds Under Odds
SEC 11.5 -150 +110
BIG 10 6.5 -120 -120
ACC 5.5 +150 -200
BIG 12 3.5 +225 -350
PAC 12 2.5 +120 -160

Odds taken 4/23.

There’s a lot to digest here, but after scouring through mock drafts and combing through all the information, there are two bets in particular that deserve your attention.

SEC Stars Will Go Early & Often

The SEC has the highest total on the board. The over requires 12 SEC players being selected in the 1st round. Even still, I think they missed the mark setting the line.

I see the SEC comfortably go over the number here. Don’t stress about the -150 price point; it’s more than worth it when you do a deep dive into the players who should go in the 1st round.

A recent mock draft done by Walter Football had 13 different SEC players being taken in the 1st round, and that didn’t include a trio of wide receivers who could sneak into first 32 picks.

With teams like the New England Patriots in need of help at receiver, Deebo Samuel (South Carolina), A.J. Brown (Ole Miss), and Riley Ridley (Georgia) could all go earlier than currently projected.

I love the SEC to go over 11.5, and possibly have closer to half the players drafted in the 1st round.

PICK: SEC OVER 11.5 (-150)

After Kyler Murray, Expect a Quiet Night for the BIG 12

Kyler Murray will go number one in the draft, in all likelihood. That’s one for the BIG 12. To hit the over, they only need three more players taken, which shouldn’t be too hard right?

Well, it clearly is as you can see from the price you’ll have to pay to take the under. It’s sitting at -350 but honestly, that number could be shorter and I’d still say it’s good value.

The only other BIG 12 player that will definitely be picked in the 1st round is Murray’s teammate OG/OT Cody Ford.  The conference just doesn’t have much high-end talent, and the brand of football played in the Big 12 looks nothing like the NFL. That’s causing talent elevators to give low grades to incoming prospects.

I like this bet even more than the SEC pick, but it’ll cost you to jump on board.

PICK: BIG 12 UNDER 3.5 (-350)
