  • The Indianapolis Colts are 11.5-point home favorites over the New York Jets in the NFL’s Week 9 TNF showdown on Thursday, November 4
  • The Jets are 0-4 straight up and ATS on the road this season
  • Read below for a prediction on which way the line will move leading up to kickoff

As miracles go, the one pulled Sunday by the New York Jets was impressive, but it still doesn’t measure up to the one they achieved via their Super Bowl 3 victory over the Colts.

Still, a win is a win and for the Jets, Sunday’s 34-31 verdict over the Cincinnati Bengals was as much needed as it was unexpected. As far as the Indianapolis Colts are concerned, they were also seeking a much-needed win on Sunday at home against the Tennessee Titans. It didn’t happen though. Indy blew a 14-0 lead and lost 34-31 in overtime.

Still, oddsmakers aren’t ready to buy into back-to-back miracles. It’s the hometown Colts who are given the favorites nod over the Jets in the opening line by 11.5 points. New York’s football Jets are 0-4 against the spread as a road team this season.

Jets Defy Logic And NFL Odds

Coming off their worst loss of the season, and with a quarterback making his first NFL start, impending doom was the sentiment at MetLife Stadium as the Jets readied to face the 5-2 Cincinnati Bengals. Instead, the opposite happened.

In for injured first-round pick Zach Wilson, Jets QB Mike White slotted perfectly into head coach Robert Saleh’s conservative offensive philosophy. White didn’t complete pass over 20 yards. Yet he became the first Jets QB in 327 games to pass for over 400 yards.

White threw for three touchdowns and caught a two-point conversion on a trick play. Ultimately, it was Bengals QB Joe Burrow, the first player chosen in the 2020 NFL Draft, who committed the critical mistake. His late-game interception set up the Jets for the winning TD.

Colts Fail As NFL Betting Line Favorite

For the third time this season, Indianapolis took the field as home favorites. The Colts were also facing a 5-2 club in the AFC South-leading Tennessee Titans.

They were needing a win to maintain any hope of a division title. However, despite an early two-TD lead, the victory didn’t materialize.

Everything that’s good and everything that’s bad about Indy QB Carson Wentz came to the fore in this game. He threw for three touchdowns. He’d gone 212 passes without an interception, a franchise record. And then he was picked off twice late in the game, including a pick six.

Jets vs Colts Betting Trends

The 3-5 Colts are 0-5 against teams with winning records this season. They are 3-0 against teams with losing marks. Six of Indy’s remaining games are against winning teams. The Colts can’t afford to let this one get away.

The Jets are 1-11 SU in their last 12 road games. That includes a 36-7 loss at Indianapolis in Week 3 of the 2020 season.

The Colts are 8-4 SU (.667) on TNF. The Jets are 6-9 (.400). New York is 8-15 ATS over the past 23 games.

Jets vs Colts Expected Line Movement

There will be a groundswell of support for White that may see some surprising money on the Jets. The fact of the matter is that he’s likely more mirage than miracle worker.

White was picked off twice Sunday. The Colts defense has forced six takeaways over the last two weeks.

Still, expect the romantic types to lead to a shortening of the betting line.
