Start time of Sunday night’s contest at Levi’s Stadium is set for 8:20pm ET. Weather is not expected to be a factor, with the forecast calling for clear, sunny skies and mild temperatures.

Line Movement

Sunday night’s contest marks the fourth meeting between these two teams since November 2019, with each of the previous three clashes taking place at Levi’s Stadium. Favorites won big in each of those meetings, claiming victory by an average margin of 21 points, with the Packers earning their lone victory during that stretch in a 34-17 rout as 6-point chalk in Week 9 of last season.

Those recent results have yet to spark any major movement in the betting line. The Niners have held steady since opening at -3. The total also remains unchanged since opening at 50.5 despite recent big wins from both these teams, and the trend towards high-scoring when they meet, with at least one squad scoring 33 or more points in each of their past four matchups.

Niners Enjoying Fast Start

The 49ers look to have turned the corner in the early going of the season after enduring a dismal finish to the 2020 NFL campaign. Losers in seven of their final nine dates last season, including six defeats by at least a touchdown, the 49ers have flipped the script in their first two outings.

The Niners ran up the score in a 41-33 season-opening win in Detroit, which was nowhere near as close as the score indicates. The San Francisco defense then captured the spotlight last weekend, smothering the Eagles attack in a 17-11 win in Philadelphia. However, this team still has plenty of work to do to turn the page on last season’s dismal performance at home, where they tallied just one SU win and currently ride a four-game SU losing streak that started with their most recent visit from the Packers.

Jimmy G Firmly in Charge

While much of the conversation in San Francisco has centered on speculation as to when rookie Trey Lance will get his opportunity under center, veteran Jimmy Garoppolo has quietly solidified his position as the team’s starter. Jimmy G turned in a stellar performance in the Niners’ Week 1 win over the Lions, tossing for 314 yards and one score. He also provided all the offense that San Francisco would need last weekend in Philadelphia, throwing for one score and running for the game-winning TD.

It was all about the 49ers ground game in Garoppolo’s last appearance against Green Bay. Raheem Mostert galloped for 220 yards and four TDs in a 37-20 win over the Packers in the 2020 NFC Championship Game. However, Mostert remains unavailable after suffering a knee in jury in Week 1.

Packers Search for Momentum

A date with the Lions also proved to be a tonic for the Packers. Big-time losers by a 38-3 score in their season opener in New Orleans, the Pack rebounded with a decisive 35-17 win over Detroit last week on Monday Night Football. But can Green Bay maintain that momentum against the undefeated Niners on a short week’s rest and a long trip out to the West Coast?

Last season, the Packers racked up a 6-2 SU record on the road, including a victory in San Francisco on just three days rest. However, those wins came largely against inferior opponents, while they fell to defeat to playoff bound teams in Tampa Bay and Indianapolis.

Not surprisingly, it will be all about Aaron Rodgers on Sunday night. The Packers star pivot made a statement with a four-TD performance last week in Detroit, and has consistently risen to the occasion in prime time. Rodgers has lifted to Green Bay to victory in 10 of his past 11 appearances, connecting on 30 total touchdowns during that stretch, and has also earned the win in two of three prime dates in San Francisco.

The Pick: OVER 50.5 (-110) – 1 unit
