  • The Seattle Seahawks are three-point home favorites on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers
  • Sunday betting record: 3-1; 1.91 units won
  • Seattle is 2-1 against the spread as a home favorite this season

A year ago, it was the Seattle Seahawks who knocked the San Francisco 49ers from the ranks of the NFL undefeated. San Francisco won’t get that chance this season.

Seattle (5-1) fell for the first time in 2020 last week to the Arizona Cardinals (5-2). However, a win Sunday by the 4-3 Niners could further tighten up what is already the NFL’s deepest division.

All four NFC West teams own winning records. The Los Angeles Rams are 5-2.

Seattle is expected to get back on the winning track, though. The Seahawks are 4-2 against the spread and bookmakers have established Seattle as three-point favorites.

Kickoff Sunday is at 4:25 pm ET. The weather forecast is for 56 degrees, clear, sunny skies and 5 mph winds at Century Link Field.

Seahawks Comes To Pass

Both offenses put up numbers last week, and they did so via differing gameplans. Seattle moved the ball through the air. NFL MVP favorite Russell Wilson passed for 388 yards and three touchdowns in the Seahawks’ loss to Arizona.

Seattle receiver Tyler Lockett enjoyed a monster game. He caught 15 balls for 200 yards.

Seattle leads the NFL with 27 TDs. Of that total, 22 have come through the air. The Seahawks have scored at least 30 points in five of six games. The one game they didn’t, Seattle was held to 27 points.

Running Out Of Running Backs

The 49ers flexed their muscles, physically dominating the New England Patriots during a 33-6 rout. San Francisco ran for 197 yards against the Pats.

Jeff Wilson paced the ground game with 112 yards on 17 carries, a 6.6 yards-per-carry average. QB Jimmy Garoppolo was his efficient self. He passed for 277 yards.

Wilson figures to be out a month however, after suffering a high ankle sprain on his third TD of the game against New England. Raheem Mostert (ankle) is on IR.

Tevin Coleman (knee) has been designated to return from IR and could play Sunday. Jerick McKinnon and JaMycal Hasty are the only other healthy running backs on the Niners’ active roster.

The Seahawks are also dealing with a depleted backfield. Chris Carson (foot), Carlos Hyde (hamstring) and Travis Homer (knee) are all listed as questionable for Sunday. If none of them can go, it leaves DeeJay Dallas as the only healthy option for Seattle at RB.

Other Injury Updates

The Niners will also be without starting wide receiver Deebo Samuel (hamstring). Defensively, two starters – weakside linebacker Kwon Alexander (ankle) and strong safety Jaquiski Tartt (groin) – are doubtful. Free safety Jimmy Ward (quadricep) is questionable.

Seattle starting left guard Mike Iupati (back) is doubtful. On defense, the Seahawks list starting left cornerback Shaquill Griffin (concussion) as out. His backup Neiko Thorpe (hip) is already on IR.

Right defensive end Benson Mayowa (ankle) and strong safety Jamal Adams (groin) are listed as questionable. Adams is expected to play. Adams and Mayowa have recorded Seattle’s only QB sacks this season.

Trend Spotting

The Seahawks are 2-1 against the spread as a home favorite. The 49ers are 1-0 ATS as a road underdog.

Both Garoppolo and Russell Wilson will need to upgrade their ball security. Wilson was picked off three times, while Garoppolo threw a pair of interceptions last week.

Seattle’s feeble pass rush, ranked 29th in the NFL, needs to step up. They acquired DE Carlos Dunlap from the Bengals to help in that area.

Best Bet: Over 54 points (-107).
