A year ago, the Arizona Cardinals finished 11-6, just barely missing out on winning the NFC West. A year later, and the Cards have already lost six games entering Week 11.

Meanwhile the 49ers made a power move in acquiring Christian McCaffrey from the  Panthers and it has paid off. After losing his debut against the Chiefs, San Francisco is 2-0 since with a +23 point differential since then.

With a chance to win their third in a row, the 49ers battle the Cardinals on Monday Night Football. Kickoff is set for 8:15 pm ET from Estadio Azteca in Mexico.

49ers vs Cardinals Odds

Team Moneyline Spread Total

With bettors struggling to get a read on the Cardinals, the 49ers are eight-point road favorites. This is the second-straight Monday night featuring a heavy favorite in a divisional game. That didn’t turn out well for the Eagles in Week 10.

The NFL Public Betting Trends aren’t buying the 49ers as big time favorites though. Almost 60% of both the total bets and money are coming in on a Cards cover. There’s a lot of action coming in on both the over and the 49ers outright as well, but the money isn’t following.

49ers vs Cardinals Injury Report

There are a number of key injuries for the Cardinals that are swaying how bettors feel. One would be the knee injury that ended Zach Ertz’s season, while DeAndre Hopkins is fighting through a hamstring injury.

But the fact that Kyler Murray is a game-time decision is the biggest deterrent at all. Some bettors may have to wait until they know if it’s Murray or Colt McCoy under center.

While his 21-day window to return from IR was officially opened this week, reports indicate Marquise Brown won’t play.

Week 11 Injury Report

49ers Injury, Status Cardinals Injury, Status
Arik Armstead, DT Ankle/Foot, OUT DeAndre Hopkins, WR Hamstring, Questionable
Samson Ebukam, Quad/Ankle, Questionable Zach Ertz, TE Knee, OUT
N/A N/A DJ Humphries, OT Back, OUT
N/A N/A Byron Murphy, CB Back, OUT
N/A N/A Max Garcia, G Shoulder, Questionable
N/A N/A Kyler Murray, QB Hamstring, Questionable

Samson Ebukam goes from a DNP all last week (and Thursday) to getting in a pair of practices this week. On the other hand, the DNPs keep piling up for Arik Armstead. But if there are just two injury questions for the 49ers at this point in the season, it’s not a terrible spot to be in.

49ers vs Cardinals Recent History

The 49ers have a slight edge in the career head-to-head at 32-29.

In terms of who has been better over the past few seasons however, the edge lies with the Cardinals.

49ers vs Cardinals: Last Five Games

Date Away Team Home Team Final Score Line O/U
Nov 17, 2019 Arizona Cardinals San Francisco 49ers SF 36-26 SF -10.0 44.0 (Over)
Sept 13, 2020 Arizona Cardinals San Francisco 49ers ARZ 24-20 SF -7.5 48.5 (Under)
Dec 26, 2020 San Francisco 49ers Arizona Cardinals SF 20-12 ARZ -5.0 48.5 (Under)
Oct 10, 2021 San Francisco 49ers Arizona Cardinals ARZ 17-10 ARZ -5.0 48.5 (Under)
Nov 7, 2021 Arizona Cardinals San Francisco 49ers ARZ 31-17 SF -3.5 45.0 (Over)

If you were to take it back an extra game, these two would be tied 3-3 over their last six. That’s significant because the Cardinals were riding an eight-game winning streak from 2015-18.

It was actually McCoy that led the Cardinals to victory last November with Kyler Murray out. McCoy went 22-for-26 for 249 yards and a touchdown. James Conner did a significant amount of work on the ground as well, picking up 96 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 21 carries.

49ers vs Cardinals Pick

McCoy had no problem leading the Cards’ offense last week to 27 points against the Rams. He almost exclusively fed Hopkins and Rondale Moore, as 19 of his 26 completions went through them.

This doesn’t feel like a spot where that strategy will work again. The 49ers are feeling good after trading for CMC and getting Elijah Mitchell back from injury. And with some injuries along the left side of that offensive line in Arizona, that’s a spot San Fran’s defense can target.

On a neutral site, if Murray doesn’t play, this feels like a spot the 49ers can cover.

The Pick: San Francisco 49ers -8.0 (-110); 1 Unit
