The Titans look to strengthen their grasp on top spot in the AFC South standings with a sixth straight win when they visit the Chiefs on Sunday Night Football. Read on for a detailed analysis of Tennessee Titans vs Kansas City Chiefs

Tennessee have leveraged a stingy defense during their current surge, capped by last weekend’s 17-10 victory in Houston. Kansas City enjoyed a bye last week after strengthening their perch atop the AFC West standings with a 44-23 win in San Francisco in Week 7.

Start time of Sunday night’s contest is set for 8:20pm ET at Arrowhead Stadium. The game time weather forecast calls for clear skies with temperatures hovering in the low- to mid-50s Fahrenheit.

Titans vs Chiefs Recent History

Sunday night’s matchup marks the fifth meeting between these teams since January 2018. The Titans romped to a 27-3 victory when they hosted the Chiefs last season as 4-point underdogs, and have now claimed the win in four straight head-to-head clashes including a pair of wins in Kansas City as betting underdogs.

Overall, Tennessee sports a 4-1 Su record in their past five road dates with the Chiefs, and have surrendered just 17.6 points per game during that stretch. Overall, the Titans’ recent surge has been marked by low scoring, with these teams combining to score more than 36 points just once in their four most recent regular season tilts, spawning a 3-1-0 run for the UNDER in totals betting.

Tennessee Titans Betting Outlook

The Titans turned in a steady defensive gem in last week’s road date in Houston, limiting the Texans to just 161 total yards of offense in the win. The win marked the second straight outing in which the Titans have held an opponent to under 300 total yards, and extended their streak of games without surrendering a scoring run to six.

Overall, Tennessee has given up just 15.2 points per game during their current 5-0 run, and currently sport the ninth-ranked defense in the league. However, injuries have started to emerge as a concern on both sides of the ball. Among the injured are safety Amani Hooker and linebackers Bud Dupree and Jeffrey Simmons, all of who are listed as out or questionable.

Matters are not helped by the uncertain status of quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who is also listed as questionable with an ankle, and whose availability for Sunday will be a game time decision.

Should Tannehill be unavailable, Malik Willis is likely to get the call despite turning in an underwhelming relief performance last week. That would likely mean a very busy night for rusher Derrick Henry, who is coming off a sensational 219-yard, two-TD performance last week in Houston.

Kansas City Chiefs Betting Outlook

The Chiefs entered last week’s bye on a high after outclassing the 49ers in their 44-23 Week 7 win. Kansas City has been a dominant force at times on the road this season, scoring 41 or more points in each of their three wins away from Arrowhead.

However, home contests have developed into hard fought affairs. The squad’s two home wins have been claimed by a combined margin of just four points, to go along with a slender 24-20 loss to Buffalo. Accordingly, the Chiefs have now failed to cover in three straight home dates, and four of their past six overall.

But considering their stellar performance in their recent win over the Niners, there should be little reason for anxiety among the Chiefs faithful. With Patrick Mahomes turning in another impressive performance.

Mahomes connected on three scoring passes in the win while racking up 423 passing yards, and has now connected for 12 touchdowns over the past four games, and 17 in total.

Titans vs Chiefs Prediction

The battered and bruised Titans face a huge challenge to extend their road win streak against the rested and healthy Chiefs. While Derrick Henry is poised to give the KC rush defense fits, the Chiefs simply sport too many weapons for the hobbled Titans to overcome.
