  • The public is hammering the Texans to win and cover against the Jets, who have lost five straight
  • Houston will be without its top two receivers, Stefon Diggs and Nico Collins
  • Below, see the final Texans vs Jets injury reports and public-betting splits for TNF

Riding a five-game losing streak, which includes a setback to the one-win Patriots last Sunday, the New York Jets (2-6, 1-2 home, 2-6 ATS) face a virtual must-win scenario when they host the Houston Texans (6-2, 2-2 away, 3-4-1 ATS) on Thursday Night Football on Oct. 31 (8:15 pm ET).

With the Texans suffering high-profile injuries last week, the line Texans vs Jets odds shifted from Houston -1.5 at opening all the way to New York -2.5 on gameday. But as the NFL public betting splits show, the public now loves the underdog.

The moneyline handle is even more skewed to the visitors. Houston is sitting at 93% of moneyline handle as +110 underdogs. Notably, the Texans are getting over 90% of the handle despite receiving only 45% of the moneyline wagers. The takeaway for bettors is that much bigger bets, on average, are on Houston to win.

The public also has a strong lean to the over (42.5) in tonight’s TNF game. Currently, 81% of game-total handle and 77% of game-total bets are on the over.

Houston Texans vs New York Jets Injury Reports

CJ Mosley (LB) Neck Out
Leki Fotu (DL) Knee Out
Tony Adams (S) Hamstring Out
Chazz Surratt (LB) Heel Questionable
Kenny Yeboah (TE) Abdomen Questionable
Morgan Moses (OL) Knee Questionable

Both teams are dealing with a rash of injuries as the season hits the midway point. As mentioned at the top, the Texans receiving corps is decimated with both Stefon Diggs (496 yards, 3 TDs) and Nico Collins (567 yards, 3 TDs) out.

The defense will also be missing two starters: OLB Azeez Al-Shaair (knee) and free safety Jimmie Ward (groin).

The Jets are also in rough shape during a short week, especially on defense. Both starting safeties – Ashtyn Davis (concussion) and Tony Adams (hamstring) have been ruled out, as has middle linebacker and last year’s leading tackler CJ Mosley (neck), who will be missing his fifth game of the season already.

Making matters worse, Mosley’s backup, Chazz Surratt, is questionable with a heel injury. If he can’t go, one of New York’s OLBs will have to play out of position in the middle of the defense.
