Rams Big Favorites Over Falcons

Despite getting their season off to a bad start with a 31-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills at home on Thursday, the Los Angeles Rams are the biggest chalk on the board in Week 2. The defending Super Bowl-champion Rams are 11.5-point favorites over the Atlanta Falcons at home.

The Rams were hampered by mistakes, most notable Matthew Stafford throwing three interceptions while having 240 yards passing. The Rams are 0-1 and under .500 for the first time in Sean McVay’s six-year tenure as coach.

The Falcons blew a 16-point lead in the fourth quarter Sunday and lost to the New Orleans Saints 27-26 in their opener.

The Falcons’ Cordarrelle Patterson rushed for a career-high 120 yards, including a 5-yard score. Marcus Mariota threw for 215 yards and added 72 yards rushing, highlighted by a 2-yard touchdown run.

On the last play of the game, Younghoe Koo attempted a game-winning 63-yard field goal, but it was blocked.

Commanders Slim Picks

The smallest line is the Washington Commanders favored by 1.5 points at home over the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

Carson Wentz threw four touchdown passes in his Commanders’ debut Sunday as they rallied to beat the Jacksonville Jaguars. He finished 27 of 41 for 313 yards.

Wentz was able to overcome throwing interceptions on consecutive plays in the fourth quarter.

The Lions lost to the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 at home as a late rally fell short. Detroit was down by 17 points in the fourth quarter and cut the deficit to three on Jared Goff’s 22-yard touchdown pass to DJ Chark with 3:51 remaining but got no closer.

D’Andre Swift rushed for 144 yards and a TD for the Lions on 15 carries.

Highest and Lowest Week 2 NFL Game Totals

The highest total is 53.5 points for the Chargers-Chiefs game. Kansas City beat the Arizona Cardinals 44-21 on Sunday and Los Angeles downed the Las Vegas Raiders 24-19.

The smallest over/under is 42 for the Carolina Panthers-New York Giants matchup in East Rutherford. The Panthers dropped a 26-24 decision to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday while the Giants edged the Tennessee Titans 21-20.

Expected Week 2 Line Movement

The Packers are 8.5-point favorites over the Bears, which is a substantial number. However, the Packers are a betting favorite among the public who likely won’t be deterred to back Green Bay despite its 23-7 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. Look for the line to rise during the week.
