Edmonton is the 13th choice in the Stanley Cup odds at +2200, while Columbus are huge +50000 longshots. Edmonton is a -390 favorite in this contest that features a total of 6.5 goals.

Puck drop is set for 9:30 pm ET at Rogers Place in Edmonton, AB with ESPN+ broadcasting the game in the United States and Rogers Sportsnet showing it in Canada.

Columbus Blue Jackets Betting Analysis

There really isn’t any way to put a positive spin on the Blue Jackets campaign. They’re the worst team in the NHL, and have scored, on average, the fifth fewest goals per game. They’ve also surrendered the third most against and have the second worst power play.

In their latest outing, prized off-season acquisition Johnny Gaudreau returned to Calgary to face the team he called home for parts of nine seasons. He’s recorded a multi-point game in three of his last six battles. He has 46 points, with the next closest Jacket being Patrik Laine with 18 fewer.

Edmonton Oilers Betting Analysis

Just as they were feeling the heat to remain in the Western Conference Wild Card position, the Oilers have spun together six straight victories. In those affairs, they’ve scored at least four goals in all of them. All this after they had failed in all but one of their previous five outings.

They’ve been lighting the lamp at will (third best in the NHL), and free-agent signee Jack Campbell has finally turned the corner. He was miserable the first three months (.876 save %, 3.90 GAA).

However, he’s been between the pipes for all but one of their games during their winning streak. His numbers are far better at .916 save % and 2.15 GAA. He might not suit up, which would benefit Columbus as Stuart Skinner has been shaky of late, though he won his last contest. In two of his previous three starts, he was pulled, and is 0-3-2 in his last five home games.

The over is set at 6.5 goals for this one. Our model has the game going the home squads way, by a count of 4.3-3.38. Edmonton has won five of their last six against the Eastern Conference. While Columbus has been dreadful against the East (7-22-1), they’ve been halfway respectable versus the West (7-8-2).

Edmonton has won five of six against their counterparts, with the exception of their latest skirmish. Over 6.5 goals have been scored in eight of CBJ’s last eleven games, while it’s also hit in six of the Oilers last seven contests.

Blue Jackets vs Oilers Pick

The Oilers have been red hot of late, and they’re going up against a team that has proven they are to be taken lightly. They aren’t out of the woods yet either, as they still desperately need more W’s to get in the top-three of the Pacific and comfortably clear in the playoff picture.

Blue Jackets vs Oilers Same-Game Parlay Picks

Pick Odds
Edmonton Oilers Moneyline -390
Over 6.5 Goals -135
Connor McDavid Anytime Goal Scorer -170
PARLAY ODDS  +175

For the purposes of the parlay, adding Connor McDavid (snipes in six of seven games) as any anytime goal scorer is needed in order to have some juice to it. That’ll happen when the odds on the moneyline are -390, and it’s super risky to take Edmonton as a -2.5 puckline favorite. Bank on them to win seven straight in a single season for the first time in 20 years.

Pick: Edmonton Oilers Moneyline (-390), Over 6.5 Goals (-135)
