Devils Betting Trends

The Devils are stumbling towards the finish line, going 3-7 over their last 10 games. They were recently downed 5-2 by the Buffalo Sabres on Friday night. Jack Hughes scored his 26th goal, but the Devils allowed three unanswered goals in the third period to seal their fate.

Goaltender Jake Allen had a night to forget against Buffalo, surrendering five goals on just 20 shots faced. The team has been plagued by inconsistent goaltending and defensive lapses all season, allowing 3.43 goals per game (25th in the NHL).

Jesper Bratt leads the team with 72 points (23 goals, 49 assists) in 73 games played, while Jack Hughes follows closely with 71 points (26 goals, 45 assists) in just 57 games. On defense, Dougie Hamilton has chipped in 43 points despite missing significant time due to injury.

The Devils will be without key defensemen Hamilton and Jonas Siegenthaler due to upper-body injuries. Forward Nathan Bastian is also out long-term. Hamilton’s loss will be especially felt on the power play, where New Jersey has been on a 6-for-37 slump with the man advantage.

Rangers Betting Trends

The Rangers have been red hot, winning 10 of their last 13 contests. However, they hit a roadblock last Monday night, losing to the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-2. Igor Shesterkin finished with just 16 saves, as Sidney Crosby and the Pens snapped the Rangers’ five-game winning streak.

The Rangers’ 50-20-4 record is still among the best in the NHL. They have dominated at home with a 26-10-0 mark but have also played well away from MSG at 24-11-4. The over has hit in 40 of their 74 games.

Artemi Panarin has been unstoppable, pacing the team with 107 points (44 goals, 63 assists) in 74 games. Mika Zibanejad (75 points) and Chris Kreider (67 points) have provided excellent secondary scoring. On the back end, Adam Fox has racked up 63 points from the blueline.

The Rangers boast a potent offense that ranks 4th in goals per game at 3.41. Their defensive play has also been stout, surrendering just 2.77 goals per contest (5th best). If there is a weakness, it may be an over-reliance on Igor Shesterkin in net.

The Rangers have been excellent on special teams this season, ranking 5th in both power play conversion rate (26.01%) and penalty kill success rate. Their power play unit, led by Artemi Panarin, Mika Zibanejad, Chris Kreider, and Vincent Trocheck, has been lethal.

Devils vs Rangers Player Props

Here are a couple of the player props we’ve locked in for tonight’s game:

Jesper Bratt Anytime Goal Scorer (+165)
Bratt leads the Devils with 23 goals this season. He has scored in two of the last three games against the Rangers, including the game-winner on March 30th. At plus-money value, Bratt anytime goal scorer is an intriguing prop.

Artemi Panarin Anytime Goal Scorer (+135)
Panarin has feasted on the Devils with five goals in the last five meetings. He’s also riding a six-game point streak into this one. Getting over plus-money for the Rangers’ top scorer to find the net is appealing.

Adam Fox Over 0.5 Points (-165)
While a bit pricey, Fox has racked up 63 points from the blueline and has points in three straight against the Devils. If you like the Rangers offense to produce, Fox over 0.5 points is worth a look.

Devils vs Rangers Prediction

With the Devils fading and the Rangers surging, this matchup clearly favors the home side. New Jersey’s defensive woes and injuries on the back end could be exposed once again by New York’s explosive offense led by Panarin, Zibanejad and Kreider.

New Jersey is a brutal 3-12 in its last 15 games playing on 0 days rest, which is the key betting trend at play here. The Rangers are more rested and have been excellent at MSG. They now face a New Jersey team that has lost its mojo and fallen out of the playoff race.

Expect a tight, playoff-like battle between these fierce rivals. But with home-ice advantage and better overall defensive structure, the Rangers should bounce back from the Pittsburgh loss and take two crucial points in the race for Metropolitan Division positioning.

NJD vs NYR Pick:

  • Rangers ML (-175)
