Oilers Betting Outlook

The Oilers stole home-ice advantage with their Game 1 victory thanks to superstar performances from Connor McDavid (game-winning goal in 2OT) and Leon Draisaitl (goal to extend point streak to 13 games).

Edmonton out-chanced Dallas 16-10 in high-danger chances and 34-29 in scoring opportunities, showing they can generate offense against the stingy Stars defense. Dallas had frustrated superstars Jack Eichel and Nathan MacKinnon in earlier rounds, but McDavid made his mark in Game 1.

Goalie Stuart Skinner was excellent, stopping 31 of 33 shots for a .939 save percentage. The Oilers penalty kill was also perfect, going 5-for-5. Edmonton has killed off straight power-play, while their own man-advantage unit paces all playoff teams at

If Edmonton’s top scorers like McDavid, Draisaitl, Zach Hyman and Evan Bouchard continue producing, and Skinner provides steady goaltending, the Oilers have a great chance to take a 2-0 series lead back home.

Stars Betting Outlook

The Stars will be looking to bounce back after the gut-wrenching Game 1 loss. They’ve now dropped Game 1 in seven straight playoff series, but have shown the ability to rebound.

Despite the series-opener loss, there were some positives for Dallas to build on. Tyler Seguin scored both goals and the Stars erased a 2-0 deficit to force overtime. However, going 0-for-5 on the power play was costly, as was hitting the post twice in OT.

The Stars have proven resilient this postseason, coming back from series deficits against both Vegas and Colorado. Dallas may get a boost with the potential return of center Roope Hintz, who has missed the last three games with an upper-body injury. The 26-year-old Finn potted 30 goals in the regular season and is questionable to play.

In goal, Jake Oettinger has given Dallas a chance to win every night. He has an 8-6 record with a stellar 2.10 GAA and .919 save percentage. The 24-year-old made 35 saves in the Game 1 loss, including some spectacular stops on McDavid.

EDM-DAL Player Props

The Edmonton vs Dallas player props for Game 2 show Zach Hyman with the best odds to light the lamp at +100. We’ve identified our top NHL player prop bets for Saturday below the table.

Player Anytime Goalscorer Shots on Goal (O/U) Points (O/U)
Zach Hyman +100 3.5 (-110o/-120u) 0.5 (-190o/+145u)
Leon Draisaitl +120 2.5 (-166o/+130u) 1.5 (+130o/-166u)
Connor McDavid +135 3.5 (+130o/-166u) 1.5 (-115o/-115u)
Wyatt Johnston +180 2.5 (-145o/+114u) 0.5 (-130o/+100u)
Jason Robertson +225 2.5 (+114o/-145u) 0.5 (-175o/+135u)
Tyler Seguin +265 N/A 0.5 (+105o/-135u)
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins +275 2.5 (+140o/-180u) 0.5 (-166o/+130u)
Evander Kane +295 2.5 (+110o/-140u) 0.5 (+135o/-175u)
Jamie Benn +310 2.5 (+150o/-195u) 0.5 (-105o/-125u)
Joe Pavelski +320 1.5 (-166o/+130u) 0.5 (-105o/-125u)

Wyatt Johnston Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-143)
The Stars rookie forward has been firing the puck a ton this postseason, averaging over 3 shots per game. He had 7 shot attempts in Game 1 but only got 2 on net. Look for him to be more accurate and clear this number in Game 2.

Oilers vs Stars Game 2 Prediction

The Oilers have grasped the momentum after their Game 1 triumph and seem to be peaking at the right time. McDavid and Draisaitl are performing at an otherworldly level right now, while SKinenr is coming off one of his better playoff performances.

Meanwhile, the Stars are in a familiar spot facing early adversity and will need to dig deep to avoid falling into a nearly insurmountable 2-0 series hole. Oettinger gives them a chance every game, but the Dallas offense has been inconsistent. The potential return of Hintz would provide a big lift.

For Game 2, the best bets are the Oilers +1.5 on the puck line at -218 and the under 5.5 goals at +105. Edmonton has the firepower to keep this one close and Skinner’s strong play of late makes the under appealing. An Oilers upset win at +120 is also in play for bolder bettors.

Game 2 EDM-DAL Picks:

  • Oilers +1.5 (-218)
  • Under 5.5 (+105)
