  • The Vegas Golden Knights and Carolina Hurricanes kick off Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final Tuesday night
  • Carolina has waltzed through the NHL Playoffs with a scintillating 12-1 postseason record
  • See the Golden Knights vs Hurricanes odds, analysis and player props pick for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final

The Stanley Cup Final has arrived, setting up a thrilling series opener between the home-favorite Carolina Hurricanes and the road-underdog Vegas Golden Knights. The Hurricanes have emerged victorious in twelve of 13 playoff duels, while the Golden Knights come in hot on a six-game run, having swept the Presidents’ Trophy winning Colorado Avalanche in the Western Conference Final.

The NHL odds have installed Carolina as Game 1 favorites, and unsurprisingly, also the top choice in the Stanley Cup odds. Continue reading for my preview on the Canes first Stanley Cup game since 2006, while Vegas is competing in their third final in nine years of existence.

Golden Knights vs Hurricanes Best Bets & Predictions

  • Game Total: Under 5.5 Goals (+100 on bet365)
  • Player Prop: Jack Eichel Over 2.5 Shots (-110 at BetMGM)

The defensive pedigree of both teams points heavily toward a low-scoring affair. The total for this matchup is set at 5.5 goals, and in ten of Carolina’s 13 postseason battles, five or fewer combined goals have been scored.

The Canes have been an absolute wall, boasting a suffocating 1.41 goals against average behind the stellar play of goaltender Frederik Andersen. The Golden Knights have also been fantatstic in their own zone, allowing just 2.38 goals per game. The Over goals total has hit just once in Vegas’ last six battles.

As for the NHL Player Props, Jack Eichel’s shot total has drawn my interest. Sure, he’s not reached three shots in the last three games, but he hit that threshold in his three previous contests. He loves facing Carolina, exceeding three shots in six straight and eight of nine skirmishes.

Golden Knights vs Hurricanes Public Betting Splits & Handle

In the NHL public betting trends, 80% of wagers and 70% of cash is on Carolina to draw first blood. On the puck line, 60% of tickets and 56% of the handle is on Vegas to keep it within a goal. Finally, the total goals market sees 79% of bets and 69% of the moola on the Under 5.5 goals, which dovetails with my prediction.
