  • The Golden Nights and Wild meet tonight in Minnesota
  • Minnesota has allowed just nine goals in five games and owns a 16-for-17 penalty kill rate

The Vegas Golden Knights (5-1-0) visit the Minnesota Wild (3-1-1) tonight at Grand Casino Arena. Vegas has been one of the best teams in the league through the first two weeks, outshooting opponents 198-144 and outscoring them 22-14. Minnesota has been just as impressive defensively, allowing nine goals in five games behind a nearly perfect penalty kill.

Jack Eichel leads the Knights with three goals, nine assists and 18 shots through six games. Kirill Kaprizov has six goals and eight points for the Wild. Both forwards are already in the early Hart Trophy odds conversation.

Puck drop is at 8 pm ET. Here are my Golden Knights vs Wild prediction, picks and over/under odds for tonight’s contest.

My Golden Knights vs Wild prediction is on Minnesota at home. The Wild have been nearly impossible to score on, allowing just 1.8 goals per game. Their penalty kill has been the story of the early season at 16-for-17 (94.1%), which matters against a Vegas power play that has already converted seven times on 23 opportunities.

Vegas controls possession and generates heavy shot volume (198 shots for through six games), but Minnesota’s defensive structure has been airtight. At 52 cents, the Wild are priced as a slight home favorite, and I think that’s justified given how well they’ve defended early on. The Golden Knights vs Wild stats show two teams built differently. Vegas generates volume and scores at a high rate (22 goals in six games). Minnesota doesn’t generate the same raw shot numbers but has been ruthlessly efficient, scoring 15 goals while allowing just nine.

The special teams matchup is the key to this Golden Knights vs Wild game. Vegas has a 30.4% power play, but Minnesota’s 94.1% penalty kill has been nearly untouchable. Something has to give, and I’m betting on the Wild’s kill to hold up at home. Mark Stone (three goals, four assists, 14 shots) and Matt Boldy (23 shots in five games) are the volume shooters to watch on both sides.

Golden Knights vs Wild Picks

  • Under 6.5 goals (57¢ on Kalshi)

Under 6.5 Goals
57%

My Golden Knights vs Wild best bet on the total is the under. Minnesota is allowing just nine goals through five games and has killed 16 of 17 opposing power plays. Vegas is the more potent offensive team, but the Wild’s structure should keep this game tight.

The under 6.5 is priced at 57 cents (NO), implying about a 57% chance this stays at six goals or fewer. Given Minnesota’s defensive profile, that feels right. This has the makings of a tight checking, 3-2 type game between Stanley Cup odds contenders.
