The Carolina Hurricanes head to Calgary on Sunday to face a Flames team that can’t find the net. Carolina is 14-1 over its last 15 road games, while Calgary has lost six of its last seven.
Puck drop is set for 8 pm ET / 5 pm PT at Scotiabank Saddledome. Here’s my Hurricanes vs Flames prediction, plus the betting line and my Sunday best bets with Carolina the favorite in the NHL odds.
Hurricanes vs Flames Prediction
- Carolina to win (67¢ on Kalshi)
My Hurricanes vs Flames prediction is Carolina to win at 67¢, a 67% market-implied chance before fees.
The 14-1 road run grabs the headlines, but the numbers back it up. The Hurricanes score 3.78 goals per game and allow 2.33, while the Flames score 2.00 and give up 4.86.
That works out to a +1.45 goal differential per game for Carolina and -2.86 for Calgary. Losing six of seven at this point, the Flames haven’t given bettors much reason to trust them at home.
Bettors agree, with 91.7% of the moneyline handle on Carolina in the NHL public betting splits.
Hurricanes vs Flames Betting Line & Odds
For bettors checking out apps like Kalshi, here’s the Hurricanes vs Flames betting line on the prediction market.
Calgary is priced at 35¢ to win. Carolina’s -1.5 puck-line contract costs 44¢, requiring a win by at least two goals.
On the total, roughly 95% of the handle is on the over. Even so, the under is the pricier contract at 55¢.
Hurricanes vs Flames Sunday Best Bets
- Under 6.5 goals (55¢ on Kalshi)
My top Hurricanes vs Flames best bet is the under, priced at 55¢ for a 55% implied chance. The public loves the over, but I don’t see Calgary doing its share of the scoring.
The Flames average 2.00 goals per game, and Carolina allows just 2.33 goals and 21.67 shots per night. Calgary averages 29.43 shots, almost eight more than the Canes usually give up.
Special teams don’t help the Flames much either. Calgary’s power play converts at 20.0%, while Carolina kills off 93.5% of its penalties.
If Calgary lands near its 2.00 average, Carolina would need five goals of its own to push this over 6.5. The Canes average 3.78, so I’ll take the under.
Hurricanes vs Flames Team Stats
Carolina owns 59.4% of shot attempts and allows nearly seven fewer shots per game than Calgary in this Hurricanes vs Flames matchup. Calgary’s 55.1% Corsi rate is respectable, but it hasn’t turned into goals.
Those numbers help explain why Carolina sits as a co-favorite in the Stanley Cup odds to win back-to-back Stanley Cups.
Hurricanes vs Flames Projected Starting Goalies
Brandon Bussi has been confirmed as the Canes starting goalie, with Devin Cooley expected to be between the pipes for the Flames.
Hurricanes vs Flames Projected Lineups & Injuries
The Hurricanes vs Flames lineups below are projections. Carolina is without Jordan Staal (calf), Seth Jarvis (shoulder) and Taylor Hall (upper body), while Calgary is missing Jonathan Huberdeau (hip) and Samuel Honzek (undisclosed).
Sebastian Aho centers Carolina’s projected top line and has an assist in 86% of his last seven road games against losing teams.
