This Stanley Cup Final has been pure chaos, and Game 4 shouldn’t be any different. The Carolina Hurricanes and Vegas Golden Knights have pulled off something the NHL had never seen: a team erasing a multi-goal lead in three straight games. Vegas holds a 2-1 series edge after stealing Game 3 in double overtime.

Carolina rallied from down 4-0 in the third period of that one, only to lose on a Shea Theodore shot that caromed off the end boards. Now the Canes are in must-win mode on the road, because a 3-1 hole in the Final is almost impossible to climb out of. Teams up 3-1 in a best-of-7 final have closed it out 38 of 39 times.

Game 4 goes Tuesday night from T-Mobile Arena, and sportsbooks have Carolina as a small road favorite in the latest NHL odds. Here’s a full breakdown of the Hurricanes vs Golden Knights odds, start time and projected lineups, including the goalie mystery in Carolina’s crease.

Hurricanes vs Golden Knights Odds

Bet TypeHurricanesGolden Knights
Moneyline-115-105
Puck Line-1.5 (+225)+1.5 (-278)
TotalO 5.5 (-130)U 5.5 (+110)

The surprising part is that Carolina is the favorite, even though they trail the series and have to win on Vegas ice. The Hurricanes sit at -115 on the moneyline, with the Golden Knights right behind at -105. That’s about as close to a coin flip as you’ll find.

The market still trusts the Canes, and the underlying numbers explain why. Carolina has controlled possession all series, and their penalty kill has been outstanding at 91.9%. That unit gets another test against a Vegas power play humming at 21.8%.

That -115 price tags Carolina at roughly a 53% chance to win Game 4. On the puck line, the Canes are -1.5 (+225) while Vegas grabs +1.5 at -278. The total is set at 5.5 goals, but trust it at your own risk after three straight 5-4, 4-3 and 5-4 shootouts.

Hurricanes vs Golden Knights Start Time

Puck drop for Game 4 is set for 8 pm ET / 5 pm PT at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. ABC has the national broadcast in the U.S., while Canadian viewers can tune in on Sportsnet, CBC and TVA Sports.

That start time gives bettors plenty of runway to shop the Hurricanes vs Golden Knights odds and wait on Carolina’s goalie news before the puck drops.

Hurricanes vs Golden Knights Projected Lineups

The biggest storyline in the Hurricanes vs Golden Knights projected lineups is Carolina’s goaltending. Rod Brind’Amour has kept his starter a secret, saying his decision is made but refusing to share it.

Frederik Andersen has started all 16 playoff games, but he got the hook in Game 3 after allowing four goals on 16 shots. He’s had a rough series against Vegas, surrendering 12 goals on 65 shots for a .815 save percentage. Andersen also took a maintenance day Monday and didn’t practice.

Brandon Bussi replaced him and stopped 18 of 19 shots during Carolina’s comeback, his first action since April 14. A first career playoff start could be in play for him. Vegas, meanwhile, is expected to go back to Carter Hart, who owns a .913 save percentage this postseason, with Adin Hill behind him.

Mitch Marner is the name to watch up front. He set two single-game Cup Final records in Game 3 — the fastest hat trick at 6:10 and the first four-point period in Final history. His 28 points this postseason are a Golden Knights record, and he’s the clear Conn Smythe front-runner.

On the back end, Brayden McNabb and Noah Hanifin both skipped Monday’s practice but are expected to play. McNabb has been wearing a full cage while recovering from facial injuries he suffered in Game 2.

For Carolina, captain Jordan Staal brings goals in three straight games into Game 4. The Canes carry no injuries on their report, so this should be close to a full-strength group on both sides, pointing to a series that could stretch deep in the NHL playoff bracket.
