  • The Los Angeles Kings travel to battle the Vegas Golden Knights in a Pacific Division clash
  • The NHL picks cover the moneyline and over/under.
  • Read below for my Kings vs. Golden Knights prediction and the latest odds.

The surging Vegas Golden Knights host the struggling Los Angeles Kings on Saturday, October 10, at 10:00 p.m. ET. Vegas has opened the season with strong five-on-five possession and reliable goaltending, while Los Angeles is still searching for its first win.

The matchup sets up as a contrast in current form. Vegas is averaging 4.00 goals and 33.20 shots per game, while the Kings are allowing 5.00 goals per game and have a .821 team save percentage.

I’m looking at Vegas on the moneyline and the Over 5.5 goals. The Golden Knights’ home-ice advantage, stronger special teams, and superior early-season defensive results give them the edge in the matchup, while Los Angeles’ defensive issues support the total.

Vegas Golden Knights Moneyline
61%

My Kings vs Golden Knights prediction backs Vegas at home. At 61¢ on Kalshi, the contract implies a 61% probability before fees and pays $1 if Vegas wins.

Vegas is 12-5 (.706) at home as a favorite across its last 17 games, a trend that includes a small sample from last season. The Golden Knights have also won their last three meetings with Los Angeles. Their current statistical edge is substantial: Vegas is averaging 4.00 goals per game, allowing 2.60 and controlling more of the possession profile with 51.20 Corsi For and 39.60 Fenwick For per game.

The Kings have lost nine straight outright and six consecutive road games. Their 3.00 goals per game have not offset the defensive problems, particularly a 61.5% penalty kill and 5.00 goals allowed per game. Los Angeles does have a 56.9% faceoff win rate, but that advantage has not translated into consistent control or defensive success.

Kings vs Golden Knights Over/Under Pick

  • Over 5.5 (56¢ / -127 on Kalshi)

Over 5.5 Goals
56%

The Kings vs Golden Knights total pick is Over 5.5 at 56¢, implying a 56% probability before fees and requiring at least six combined goals for a winning contract.

The Kings’ early defensive numbers are the central reason to target the Over. Los Angeles is giving up 5.00 goals per game, while its penalty kill has succeeded only 61.5% of the time. Vegas has the offense to exploit those weaknesses, averaging 4.00 goals and 33.20 shots per game.

The Golden Knights also enter with the better defensive baseline, allowing 2.60 goals and 23.40 shots per game. That could limit Los Angeles’ scoring, but Vegas may be able to produce much of the offense needed to clear a modest 5.5-goal number. The Over is therefore tied to Vegas’ finishing ability as much as to a potential Kings rebound.

The Kings vs Golden Knights stats favor Vegas in scoring, shot generation, defensive results, special teams and goaltending. Los Angeles’ faceoff advantage is the main statistical edge in its favor, but the Kings’ nine-game outright losing streak and six-game road losing streak remain difficult trends to ignore.

Kings vs Golden Knights Goalies and Injuries

For the Kings vs Golden Knights goalie matchup, Darcy Kuemper is projected to start for Los Angeles, with Anton Forsberg listed as the alternative. Carter Hart is projected for Vegas, with Adin Hill the backup option. Through the available early-season sample, Kuemper is 0-2-0 with a 5.11 goals-against average and .830 save percentage. Hart is 2-1-0 with a 2.70 goals-against average and .890 save percentage.

Victor Olofsson is out for Vegas with an undisclosed injury, while Los Angeles remains without Kevin Fiala because of a leg injury. The Kings also list Jakub Dvorak and Jan Jenik among their depth absences; Vegas is missing Ben Hemmerling, Lukas Cormier, and Kai Uchacz.
