  • There are 14 NHL games on the schedule for Monday, May 3rd
  • Robert Duff split his Friday picks, leaving his NHL record at 28-20 (+4.53 units won)
  • The Florida Panthers are 5-2 straight up against the Dallas Stars this season – check out our picks below

With 14 games on tap Monday, there’s plenty of action from which to make your NHL picks.  Some games are involving teams that are out of the playoff race and have nothing left to play for in terms of the standings.

That isn’t the case where the Dallas Stars and Florida Panthers are concerned. The Stars are three points behind the Nashville Predators for the fourth and final Central Division playoff spot. Florida is two points out of top spot in the Central. Six of seven games between these two teams have gone under.

Close has counted every time the Boston Bruins and New Jersey Devils have clashed this season. In six meetings, neither club has covered the spread.

Odds as of May 2nd

Panthers are the Actual Stars

Dallas will be using up its game in hand on Nashville in the chase for that fourth and final Central playoff position. A 1-0 loss to the Preds on Saturday didn’t help the Stars’ cause.

At Florida, the Stars are 2-4 straight up over the past six games. Overall this season, the Panthers are 5-2 SU against the Stars.

Suddenly, Dallas can’t score. The Stars have been shut out in successive losses. There could be hope on the horizon, however. Five-time 30-goal scorer Tyler Seguin, out all season following offseason hip surgery, is a possibility to play on Monday.

However, 11-goal forward Denis Gurianov, one of just five Stars with double digits in goals this season, missed Saturday’s game due to a lower-body injury and his status for Monday is uncertain.

The Panthers are seventh in the NHL in goals per game (3.28). When they play the Stars, though, the offense tends to dry up. Florida is averaging 2.57 goals per game against Dallas this season.

These two teams have combined for more than five goals just once in seven meetings.

  • Pick: Under 5.5 (-125)

When Close Counts

It isn’t horseshoes or hand grenades, but when then Bruins face the Devils, close certainly counts. And it can add up to winnings for you.

Boston’s 5-4 shootout win over the Devils on March 30th ended New Jersey’s four-game win streak over the Bruins.

What didn’t come to an end was the one-goal verdicts between these two teams.

The Bruins and Devils have played seven consecutive one-goal games. That stretch includes three shootouts and one overtime contest.

  • Pick: New Jersey Devils +1.5 (-136)
