  • Anaheim is trying to regroup after letting a late three-goal lead slip against Vancouver

The Buffalo Sabres visit the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday night for the third game of their road trip, a late interconference matchup at Honda Center. Both teams are coming off one day of rest.

They spent that off day in very different moods. Buffalo blanked San Jose 2-0 on Tuesday, while Anaheim led Vancouver 5-2 late and still lost 6-5 in overtime.

Puck drop is 7 pm PT / 10 pm ET. I’ve got two Thursday NHL picks for this one, starting with my Sabres vs Ducks prediction below.

Sabres vs Ducks Prediction

  • Sabres to Win (56¢ on Kalshi)

Block(s) placed here are shown when viewing from any of the geo restricted states (configure in the controller).

My Sabres vs Ducks prediction is Buffalo to win. A 56¢ YES contract carries about a 56% implied chance before fees, and I think the Sabres win this game more often than that price implies.

The Sabres piled up shots in San Jose. They finished with 40, counting Zach Benson’s empty-net goal, and Yaroslav Askarov needed 38 saves to keep the Sharks within reach.

Colten Ellis handled the other end with 23 saves for the shutout, and Olen Zellweger scored the opener. Tage Thompson centered Benson and Konsta Helenius in that win, with Owen Power still a key piece on the back end.

Anaheim has to shake off a brutal finish against the Canucks. Cutter Gauthier, Leo Carlsson and Judd Caulfield skated together last game, but both Ducks goalies sit below an .890 save percentage. You can compare this market with the latest NHL odds before you lock in your bets.

Sabres vs Ducks Over/Under Pick

  • Over 6.5 Goals (55¢ on Kalshi)

Block(s) placed here are shown when viewing from any of the geo restricted states (configure in the controller).

For my Sabres vs Ducks over/under pick, I’m buying the Over 6.5. YES trades at 55¢, which translates to about a 55% chance before fees, while the Under side costs 47¢.

Goaltending drives this one. Three of the four goalies who could start Thursday carry a save percentage below .890, and two of them own a 3.56 GAA.

Anaheim’s last game produced eleven goals, and Buffalo just put 40 shots on net in a road win. The risk is that the Sabres beat Askarov only once Tuesday, and this total needs seven goals. With both creases this shaky, I’ll still take the Over.

Sabres vs Ducks Starting Goalies

Neither team has confirmed a starter for Thursday. Buffalo will turn to Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen or Colten Ellis, while Anaheim chooses between Ville Husso and Lukas Dostal.

Sabres vs Ducks Goalie Stats

GoalieTeamRecordSV%GAA
Ukko-Pekka LuukkonenBUF3-3-3.8663.56
Colten EllisBUF2-1-0.9022.28
Ville HussoANA1-2-0.8863.09
Lukas DostalANA4-4-1.8723.56

Ellis is the only one of the four above .900. He played Tuesday, so keep an eye on goalie news closer to puck drop. A Luukkonen start helps the Over, while another Ellis start gives the Sabres moneyline a bit more cushion.

Sabres vs Ducks Odds

MarketPriceImplied Chance
Sabres to Win56¢56%
Ducks to Win45¢45%
Over 6.5 Goals55¢55%
Under 6.5 Goals47¢47%

The Sabres vs Ducks odds on Kalshi make Buffalo a modest road favorite. Each pair of prices adds up to a little more than $1, so the implied chances run just over 100% before fees.

If you want a bigger payout on Buffalo, the Sabres -1.5 trades at 35¢, good for roughly a 35% implied shot.

Prices as of Oct. 28 on Kalshi. New users can check out our Kalshi promo code before trading NHL markets.

Sabres vs Ducks How to Watch
