  • A prop wager is available on whether the trial of accused sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell will go ahead as scheduled on July 12th, 2021
  • “No” is the odds-on favorite at -150
  • Is there any value on a “yes” bet at +110?

The trial of Ghislaine Maxwell is slated for July 12th, 2021. There’s a lot of speculation about whether the alleged Jeffrey Epstein co-conspirator will actually meet that trial date.

In fact, there’s even a prop wager which favors the trial being delayed. The prop asks whether the trial will commence as scheduled and establishes “no” as the -150 chalk.  The “yes” side of the wager is given a betting line of +110.

Odds Ghislaine Maxwell Trial Goes Ahead as Scheduled on July 12, 2021

Outcome Odds
No -150
Yes +110

Odds taken July 23rd.

Maxwell is facing charges including conspiracy to entice minors to travel to engage in illegal sex acts, enticement of a minor to travel to engage in illegal sex acts, conspiracy to transport minors with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, and perjury.

Maxwell could face up to 35 years in federal prison if convicted on all of these charges.

Maxwell-Epstein Connection

The girlfriend of convicted sex offender Epstein, Maxwell was in hiding since Epstein’s death. She was arrested in New Hampshire in early July by the FBI. Maxwell’s accusers say that her role was to train young girls to serve as sex slaves for Epstein.

Prosecutors allege that between 1994-97, Maxwell was helping Epstein groom girls as young as 14. Expectations are that some of the alleged victims will be testifying at trial.

Maxwell is denying the accusations, pleading not guilty to all charges.

Delaying Tactics Thwarted

Thursday in Manhattan saw U.S. District Judge Loretta Preska authorize the release of new records from a 2015 civil lawsuit against Maxwell. Maxwell’s lawyers were arguing that the suit could prove prejudicial to her case. They sought to keep the documents sealed.

The judge ruled that the presumption the public has a right to access large portions of the more than 80 documents at issue outweighed Maxwell’s arguments for keeping them under wraps.

The documents will remain sealed for another week while Maxwell’s lawyers launch an appeal.

It’s tactics like this that tend to dominate celebrity trials. The rich and powerful can afford to employ an army of lawyers to continuously file motions and delay proceedings.

Will Maxwell Make It to Trial?

Epstein died Aug. 10, 2019 in his prison cell. The ruling was suicide.

Was Epstein murdered? There’s plenty of conspiracy theories suggesting that to be the case.  There’s enough famous connections to the convicted pedophile that a celebrity game of Clue could be launched.

Epstein’s friends included the Clintons, the Trumps, and Prince Andrew of the British Royal Family.

Just this week, US President Donald Trump wished her well when asked about Maxwell during a press conference. Critics suggested that this was Trump’s way of sending Maxwell a message to keep quiet and a pardon would be in her future.

Journalist Geraldo Rivera and lawyer Alan Dershowitz were others who publicly supported Maxwell this week.

The court is denying Maxwell bail. She is confiding in friends fears that she’ll be killed in her jail cell before ever seeing a courtroom, and Maxwell might have a valid point.

A lot of very prominent people have a vested interest in ensuring that the light never shines on this dirty, disgusting series of events.

Pick: No (-150).
