Trusting Truex Jr?

This is a bit of a risk as Martin Truex Jr. has proven to be more effective on the shorter tracks this year (both of his wins have come at a mile or shorter). However, he absolutely dominates this track, so you have to put some faith in him.

Over the last five races, he’s led a whopping 716 laps, which boils down to 38.3% of the total laps. That’s helped pave the way for a couple of wins as well as a top 5 results in five of his last six starts there. He can win on a big track like this; he just hasn’t done it in 2019. Maybe this is his week.

Hamlin for a Top 10

Hamlin is another driver that could be overdue to produce a quality result following four straight finishes outside of the top 15. The good news is that Hamlin has averaged a fifth-place finish in his last four starts in the Coca-Cola 600 while placing fifth or better in five of his last seven appearances at Charlotte overall.

While he has never won this race, you’ve got to love the consistency that he offers. Going all the way back to 2010, Hamlin has 14 top 10 finishes in his past 16 races here. Consider him a good option for your top 10 prop bets.

Will Jimmie Johnson Be a Contender?

Looking even deeper down the board for some value, it’s impossible to ignore Johnson at +3300 to win this race outright. Sure, he hasn’t won a race in two years. However, Johnson has won the Coca-Cola 600 four times before and he’s the driver with the most active wins at Charlotte (eight).

He’s undoubtedly a longshot to win for the first time this season but he has shown signs of progress this season including finishing fifth at Texas and finishing sixth at Kansas. Overall, he has six top 15 results in his last seven starts. He’s a reasonable option for a top 10 prop.

Pass on Bowyer

It would be an understatement to say that Bowyer’s attack on Ryan Newman following a wreck in the All-Star race is a sign that his frustration is completely boiling over. Bowyer, who has recorded six top 10 finishes in his last eight starts overall, is still looking for his first win of the season.

It isn’t likely he will get it this week after placing outside of the top 10 in each of his last five starts in this race. For whatever reason, Bowyer has struggled to produce in past editions of this race.
