Aleksandar Kovacevic meets Stefanos Tsitsipas in the ATP Winston-Salem Round of 16. This hard-court tilt pits the homegrown underdog against the heavily favored Greek veteran.
The books don’t see much of a matchup here, listing Tsitsipas the monster -300 favorite Wednesday.
The pivotal question for my betting card is whether Kovacevic (ATP No. 89) has evolved enough to crack Tsitsipas (No. 53). Tsitsipas holds a 1-0 head-to-head advantage and outpaces the American in the ATP race rankings (No. 42 vs No. 76).
Check out the action tonight at 6pm ET from Stadium Court at Wake Forest University Tennis Complex in Winston Salem, North Carolina.

Kovacevic vs Tsitsipas Picks and Predictions
- Pick: Tsitsipas to Win 2-0 Sets (-104 at Kalshi)
My foundational bet is backing Tsitsipas to advance in straight sets. The traditional moneyline sits at a steep -300 at most sportsbooks, which offers no playable value for my bankroll. However, pivoting to the exact-score market yields a highly wagerable price.
The current Elo numbers reinforce that position: Tsitsipas owns a 1,860.8 overall Elo and 1,813.0 hard-court Elo, compared with Kovacevic at 1,628.1 and 1,604.4. That 232.7-point overall gap and 208.6-point hard-court edge are meaningful in a best-of-three match. The performance profile points in the same direction. Tsitsipas wins more service games (87.1% to 82.9%), saves more break points (64.1% to 59.8%), wins more first- and second-serve points (77.6% and 52.8% versus 75.6% and 50.8%), and is far more effective on return games (18.1% to 13.0%). His 1.435 dominance ratio also dwarfs Kovacevic’s 0.872.
Kovacevic’s 52.3% tiebreak win rate and 0.76 aces per game give him a path to make individual sets competitive, but Tsitsipas’ broader serve-and-return advantage should eventually separate the players. Tsitsipas also just dismissed Jenson Brooksby in straight sets at Winston-Salem, while Kovacevic has needed straight-set wins over less-established opposition to reach this round. Because the Greek has the stronger hard-court Elo and the more complete match-efficiency profile, I am grabbing the 51¢ Kalshi share, which translates to a highly playable -104 in American odds.
Kovacevic vs Tsitsipas H2H History
- Pick: Over 22.5 Total Games (-113 at Kalshi)
While Tsitsipas is the rightful favorite, Kovacevic’s sturdy service metrics make the Over 22.5 games my favorite totals play. In their previous matchup, Kovacevic absorbed early pressure and protected his serve effectively enough to push the first set to 13 games.
Kovacevic plays with tremendous pace on hard courts, and his home-soil advantage often translates to elevated first-serve velocity. While their previous 7-6, 6-3 clash landed at exactly 22 games, Kovacevic’s familiarity with the surface speed at Winston Salem should provide the marginal bump in second-set hold percentage needed to eclipse the 22.5-game threshold.
Given Kovacevic’s proven ability to force long opening rallies before Tsitsipas eventually finds his rhythm, buying the Over on Kalshi at 53¢ (-113 American) presents stellar value compared to the steeper traditional odds.

SPORTSBOOK
The head-to-head dynamic leans heavily toward the Greek standout following their lone 2024 quarterfinal clash. Tsitsipas secured a straight-sets victory, but the most predictive takeaway is the tight opening frame. Kovacevic forced a first-set tiebreak, proving he possesses the heavy groundstrokes to test the favorite early.
However, Tsitsipas’ ability to decisively close the second set highlights his superior late-match execution, dictating how I approach this wagerable slate.
