Red Bull Racing will be aiming to extend its dominance in Formula 1 racing this season when the scene shifts to South Florida this weekend for the running of the 2023 Miami Grand Prix. The Red Bull duo of Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen claimed the top two spots on the podium at last weekend’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Perez took the checkered flag for the second time this season, just ahead of Verstappen, who returns to Miami aiming to repeat after claiming victory in the inaugural edition of this event a year ago.

Here’s a look at all the odds and trends ahead of the running of the 2023 Miami Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon, with race time set for 3:30pm ET at Miami International Autodrome.

Fresh off his strongest performance of the season, Charles Leclerc sits third at +1400 while Fernando Alonso sports +1800 odds after falling just short of claiming a fourth straight third-place finish in Baku.

Can Anyone Stop Red Bull?

Once again, Red Bull demonstrated that it is in a class by itself with last weekend’s 1-2 finish in Azerbaijan. While Charles Leclerc seized the pole for both the Saturday Sprint and the main race, it quickly became evident that the Monte Carlo native’s Ferrari was no match for the Red Bulls, which quickly overtook the 25-year-old in both contests. There is little reason to expect the result to be any different Miami, barring a collision or other technical issue. However, with two victories this season, a win at last weekend’s sprint, and a fourth-place finish last weekend in Miami, Sergio Perez should be on every sports bettor’s radar as a +330 wager to earn the in on Sunday afternoon.

Indeed, unleashed by the team to duel it on the track last weekend, Perez enjoyed the benefit of a questionable decision by Red Bull to bring in race leader Verstappen for a pit stop just ahead of a safety car that gave Perez a lead he would not relinquish. And with another city street race coming up on Sunday that plays to Checo’s strength, a third victory and the lead in the F1 Drivers Standings is in reach for the talented Mexican.x

Stroll Benefiting from Partnership with Alonso

Fernando Alonso’s bid for a fourth straight trip to the podium last weekend was thwarted by the need to preserve tires after the Aston Martin was unable to follow through on expected plans to run a two-stop race. However, that performance should not discourage fans of the 41-year-old Spaniard, whose decision to join Aston Martin has proven to be transformational for both the UK team and his younger teammate Lance Stroll.

Alonso turned in a disappointing 11th place finish in Miami last year, but after turning in five straight top five finishes, the two-time former F1 champion remains a high-value -105 wager to return to the podium this week. As for Stroll, he has shown far more discipline and commitment to team results since Alonso’s arrival, as demonstrated by his uncharacteristic decision to not attack his teammate on the track last weekend.

Stroll looked poised to finish among the top six for the third time this season before suffering damage that ultimately relegated him to seventh place, and should not be overlooked as a -105 bet to return to the top six this weekend.

The Picks:

  • Sergio Perez to win (+330)
  • Lance Stroll top six (-105)
