Easy Win Extends Massive Lead in F1 Standings

Hamilton marched to an easy victory by a wide 24.928-second margin over Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas to claim his sixth career victory at Silverstone, and now sports a massive 39-point lead atop the Formula One Drivers Standings. The 34-year-old has built his lead by taking the checkered flag in seven of ten races so far this season, and has simply outclassed his fellow drivers while posting wins in 15 of 21 races.

Hamilton’s impressive run started with a win at last year’s German Grand Prix, earning his second straight victory at the event despite starting the race at No. 14 on the starting grid. The five-time F1 champion has reached the podium on all but two occasions during that stretch, and in just one outing so far this season.

And that dominance continues to be reflected on the odds to win this year’s Formula One championship, where Hamilton has vaulted to a massive -4000 favorite, well ahead of the -1200 odds he sported prior to the British Grand Prix.

Hamilton Dominating Across the Odds Board

With four career wins to his credit at the German Grand Prix, including three on the current track at Hockenheimring, Hamilton has emerged as the clear favorite on all the F1 race day oddsboards.

In addition to his perch as the favorite to claim victory in Sunday’s race, Hamilton has also emerged as -110 chalk to open the race on the pole, and is a narrow +275 favorite to record the fastest lap for the second time in as many outings, and for the third time this season.

2019 German Grand Prix Fastest Lap Odds

Driver 2019 German Grand Prix Fastest Lap Odds
Lewis Hamilton +275
Charles Leclerc +350
Sebastian Vettel +350
Valtteri Bottas +400
Pierre Gasly +500
Max Verstappen +550

Following his second-place performance at Silverstone, Bottas sits second to Hamilton as a +250 wager on the German Grand Prix odds, well ahead of Charles Leclerc at +900, while Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen sit knotted at +1000.

Bottas Brings Strong Track Record to Hockenheimring

Bottas has also enjoyed past success at the German Grand Prix, where he has twice turned in second-place performances. The 29-year-old Finn also continues to enjoy a breakthrough campaign in 2019, reaching the podium on nine occasions, including victories in Australia and Azerbaijan.

Bottas has also been a steady performer in qualifying, starting from the pole position on four occasions, and is worth serious consideration as a value wager this weekend, as a +250 wager to claim the pole position.

Red Bull on the Rise?

It also proved to be a good weekend for Red Bull Racing at Silverstone. Pierre Gasly turned in a season-best fourth-place finish, while teammate Max Verstappen found himself embroiled in duels with Ferrari teammates Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc throughout the race.

Verstappen outmuscled Leclerc at the Austrian Grand Prix to claim his first win of the season, and saw his bid for a spot on the podium at Silverstone thwarted by a collision with Vettel that dropped the young Belgian to fifth place, while dumping Vettel to 16th.

However, Verstappen’s star remains firmly on the rise. In addition to recording the fastest lap at Austria, the 21-year-old has produced steady results at Hockenheimring, where he has finished top four in two previous outings, and is pegged as an attractive -120 bet to finish in the top three this weekend.

Ferrari Future in Leclerc’s Hands

Conversely, the Ferrari duo of Leclerc and Vettel continue to search for answers as the scene shifts to the Rhine Valley. While Leclerc reached the podium for a fourth consecutive time at Silverstone, finishing third behind his Mercedes rivals, Vettel’s disappointing performance has stoked speculation about his long-term future with the Italian squad.

The Ferrari duo of Leclerc and Vettel continue to search for answers as the scene shifts to the Rhine Valley.

A native of Heppenheim, less than 50 kilometers from Hockenheimring, Vettel has struggled in his home race since posting his lone career win in 2013, and failed to finish in last year’s race. However, Vettel did manage to claim the pole a year ago, and sits as a value-packed +700 wager to do it again this year.

For Leclerc, the search continues for his first career F1 victory. The 21-year-old has been stricken by bad luck, and been outdriven at times on the track, particularly in his loss to Verstappen at Austria. However, after feeling personally vindicated by outpacing Verstappen at Silverstone, it is safe to expect a more aggressive Leclerc this weekend in Germany, where he will have his sights set chasing down his Mercedes rivals.

Picks: Bottas to record fastest lap (+400), Verstappen to finish top three (-120)
