- It’s Matchday 24 in the EPL, with a full midweek schedule
- Newcastle visit Everton and are a juicy 5/1 for the win
- Chelsea entertain Arsenal in an all-London clash
It’s Matchday 24 in the EPL and there’s a full midweek schedule ahead of an FA Cup weekend. Liverpool’s lead at the top of the league is now a huge 16 points and Jurgen Klopp’s men look unstoppable, but there is a real scrap developing beneath them for the three other Champions League places.
At the other end of the table, 20th-placed Norwich beat 19th-placed Bournemouth at the weekend, so now there looks also to be a five-team battle developing to avoid 17th, 18th and 19th.
As ever, there’s plenty of betting value out there in the EPL and so we’ll have a look and see if we can find some for these upcoming games.

EPL Pick 1: Everton vs Newcastle
Everton’s fortunes have picked up since the departure of Marco Silva with, first of all, Duncan Ferguson’s passion as caretaker manager and then new boss Carlo Ancelotti’s experience and tactical acumen taking them clear of the relegation zone. They are now a team that’s looking upwards in the table rather than over its shoulder at those who may drag them into the relegation scrap. Goodison Park is slowly becoming a fortress again.
Everton is now a team that’s looking upwards in the table rather than over its shoulder at those who may drag them into the relegation scrap.
Newcastle’s season has been, by and large, better than the Toon Army had anticipated. The appointment of Steve Bruce as manager was not received well by the Newcastle fan base, partly because he was appointed by beleaguered owner Mike Ashley, and was not helped by a slow start to the season. But, despite it being a slow-burner, there have been some good wins, eight no less, and some good performances.

The Toon are on offer here at 5/1 for the away win which, for me, offers great value, not least because they come into this game off the back of a fine home win over Chelsea. Everton managed a draw away at West Ham at the weekend, but I have a sneaky feeling Newcastle will fancy this. An away win is within their grasp.
Pick: Newcastle to win (+500)
EPL Pick 2: Chelsea vs Arsenal
This London derby usually sees north London pitched against west London in a battle for top-four places but not this season. Arsenal have struggled, despite a significant summer outlay in transfer fees, and so poor was their form, they sacked Unai Emery and replaced him in the manager’s hot seat with former player and former number two to Pep Guardiola at Man City, Mikel Arteta.

While it’s not been a whirlwind start for Arteta, the signs are generally positive at the Emirates, with the team playing with noticeably more passion and intensity – something that the Arsenal fans have been demanding for some time. With that in mind, a feisty London derby may be just what’s needed to bring out the best in this Arsenal team.
Chelsea, although fourth and currently in one of the Champions League places, have enjoyed much better form away from home than at Stamford Bridge – seven wins away, five at home – and so will be nervous ahead of this clash with the Gunners. The value here is with the away win at better than 3/1
Pick: Arsenal to win (+330)
EPL Pick 3: Tottenham vs Norwich City
Norwich’s win against Bournemouth at the weekend has given the East Anglians the smallest chink of light in their fight against relegation but it will count for little if they are unable to follow it up with a positive result this week at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

For the Canaries, this is, on paper, not a bad time to be playing Spurs who are currently without the services of England captain Harry Kane and are struggling for goals. At the weekend they could only manage a goalless draw away to lowly Watford and so off the back of their win over the Cherries, City will be hoping to use that momentum to spring a surprise.
Norwich have been plagued by defensive issues all season but, while it’s hard to see them keeping a clean sheet in north London, they have enough creativity in the team to get a goal or two on Wednesday night.
Pick: Spurs and Norwich to draw (+350)
