Paris Saint-Germain (-200) vs Lyon (+650), Draw (+400)

PSG (20-5-4, 65 points) and Lyon (16-2-10, 50 points) meet this Sunday, March 19, in a clash between Ligue 1 giants.

Paris Saint-Germain have had an interesting season so far, to say the least. Ever since the club was purchased by Qatar Sports Investments back in 2011, they have been able to put together an unrivaled roster in France, and that has led to four straight Ligue 1 titles. They’ve basically been untouchable domestically.

But all that may be coming to an end. Suddenly, Ligue 1 has become competitive and PSG have found themselves in second place for most of the season. The young Monaco squad is currently on top of the table, three points above PSG. The two teams will meet in the Coupe de la Ligue final, a cup PSG have won for the last three years.

Then, out of nowhere, the under-performing and uninspiring PSG side pulled off a shocking 4-0 win over Barcelona in the Champions League. Suddenly, they were among the front-runners for the most coveted cup in Europe and things no longer seemed so bleak.

But we all know what happened next. PSG allowed Barcelona to stage the greatest comeback in Champions League history and lost the second leg 6-1, crashing out of the Champions League in perhaps the most bizarre way possible. Now, they’re out of the Champions League and risk losing both the domestic league and cup as well.

Lyon haven’t had a great season, either. But unlike PSG, they don’t have such lofty goals. Currently, they’re fourth in the league with very little chance of climbing any further. They sit 13 points below third-place Nice, and 18 points from the top. However, they have a shot at the Europa League. They pulled off an upset 4-2 win over Roma in the first leg of the Round of 16 and will play the second leg on Thursday.

Morale is low in Paris right now, and PSG are understandably still in shock after their Champions League humiliation. Lyon should be riding high come Saturday, especially if they manage to win their mid-week Europa League game. PSG have the superior line-up, but Lyon have the momentum.

Lyon (+650)
