  • Man City hosts PSG in the second leg of their Champions League semifinal on Tuesday, May 4th at 3:00 pm ET
  • Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez led the Citizens to victory in the first leg, and with two away goals, Man City has a massive advantage
  • Currently, Man City are the heavy favorites in this match with moneyline odds of -150

On Tuesday evening, Man City will host Kylian Mbappe and PSG as they look to maintain their 2-1 advantage from the first leg, into the Champions League final. The first match in Paris looked like it was going in favor of the Parisians in the first half. Marquinhos managed to score in the first 15 minutes and Neymar looked trickier than ever, going up against his former gaffer Pep Guardiola.

However, in the second half, PSG folded like a lawn chair and let Man City walk all over them. After a devastating Keylor Navas mistake in goal and a malfunction in the Paris wall during a free kick, their lead quickly dissipated. In turn, Man City walked away with a first-leg victory and two away goals which will be a huge boost for their side. In fact, no English team who has ever won the first leg of a Champions League knockout, away from home, has ever been eliminated in the second leg.

Nonetheless, the match should still be a cracking affair, between two of the best sides in world football. If Mbappe can turn his shocker in the first leg into a good performance in the latter half, then PSG has a real chance. PSG are obviously at their best when on the break with grass to run at in front of them. However, if Pep decides to play defensively, this could really stifle PSG’s efforts.

Will Mbappe Show Up in Second Leg?

The standout for PSG in the first leg was Neymar, undoubtedly. When he is fit, the Brazilian is a joy to watch and surely somebody who can hurt the Man City defense. However, he cannot do it alone. His counterpart, Kylian Mbappe was practically invisible in the first leg. While the French attacker is still young, he has already built a reputation for himself at PSG for putting in great Champions League performances.

After a calf injury, it is still unclear if Mbappe will be fit come Tuesday night. If he wants to shock the football world and advance to a second straight final then he must play and make an impact for PSG on Tuesday night. Pochettinho’s defense is clearly not as good as Guardiola’s, which is why they must survive on what they are good at, scoring. If Mbappe can get behind the Man City defense, he can score on his own or create chances for Neymar or Angel Di Maria.

Pep Will Take Man City Another Step Towards European Glory

Despite a 2-1 advantage on the scoreline and already having two away goals under their belt, Guardiola and Man City know this contest is far from over. A European cup is the last frontier that Man City have not conquered. After many tries, it seems like this battle always ends in heartbreak for the Citizens.

Regardless, this year feels different for Man City. Their defense is so much better and it seems like they are professionals at managing a game and seeing it out to its close. They were a bit lucky against PSG in the first leg, but now they have a chance to prove everyone wrong and finally close the book on their failure in Europe.

Man City vs PSG Best Bet

Overall, the best bet for this match is a draw with odds of +310. It is hard to see either of these teams keeping each other off of the score sheet. Personally, I see this game finishing 1-1, with PSG right on the cusp of something great. Man City will ultimately see the game out and advance to the Champions League final.

Pick: Draw +310
