MLS bettors have a full card of matches to enjoy on Saturday with 13 games that get started at 7:30 pm EST. If that wasn’t enough, Sunday offers an enticing matchup in the East between Atlanta (6th) hosting Philadelphia (4th) at 4:00 pm EST. We’ve scoured the MLS odds and come up with our top MLS predictions for Week 22 here.

Heading into the weekend, the biggest news comes from the sidelines. Inter Miami named Tata Martino their new head coach. Martino coached Altlanta to the 2018 MLS Cup and had previously been coaching the Mexican national team. Meanwhile, Toronto’s 2-1 loss last week and 14th place standing in the East was enough to cost head coach and technical director Bob Bradley his job. Terry Dunfield, an academy coach, will take over on an interim basis.

Inter Miami vs Austin FC Prediction

The losing streak continues for Inter Miami after last week’s beatdown in Philly, losing 4-1 to the Union. It was their seventh defeat in a row that has seen them get outscored 16-5 during that stretch.

If there’s any glimmer of hope for Miami this weekend is that their home form is usually a bit stronger than they’re road form. Four of their five wins this season have come at DRV PNK Stadium. They’ve scored and conceded 12 at home and have scored in 7/9 of their home games. Going further back, Miami has scored in 22/24 recent home games.

They should also be buoyed by the announcement that Tata Martino has been named the new head coach.

And while Austin has posted back-to-back 3-0 home wins, they’re just 2-1-5 while being outscored 17-8 on their travels. Austin has allowed a goal in 13 straight road games, while allowing two or more in 11 of those 13. Their past four road scorelines have rwad: 4-1 (L), 2-1 (L), 2-1 (W) and 2-2 (D).

So the theme is goals at both ends in Austin road matches.

There’s only one previous meeting between the teams and that had goals too; a 5-1 Austin win last season.

I’m betting both teams to score in my soccer picks today, but considering Miami have yet to draw this season, adding the Over 2.5 into a SGP could also be an option for better odds.

  • MLS Picks: Both teams to score (-160); risk 1 unit Caesars Sportsbook

San Jose Earthquakes vs LA Galaxy Prediction

It’s another edition of the Cali Clasico. San Jose has dropped two in a row but are fifth in the West, while the Galaxy are coming off three straight draws and are 13th in the conference.

Los Angeles won the first meeting this season on their home pitch by a 2-1 scorleine. The game was actually only 1-0 for LA until stoppage time when LA scored a second in the 91′ minute and San Jose pulled one back even later at the 94′.

But twith those late goals, it extends a streak of both teams scoring and three or more goals in the past five games in this rivalry. The previous four results were all oddly won by the road team. Both teams won 3-2 on the road last season. While the previous two games were also won on the road, 3-2 San Jose and 3-1 LA. This is actually the matchup that has produced the most three-plus goal games in MLS history between any two teams. 51 of the 80 regular season games have seen three or more goals scored.

The Earthquakes lost at home for the first time this season last week, 2-1 to St. Louis. But, they’re 6-3-1 and have outscored their opponents 14-7 at home this season.

The Galaxy drew 0-0 in Colorado last week, after also drawing 2-2 and 1-1 the weeks prior. On the road they’re 1-4-5, have been outscored 16-5 and have just one road win in their past 11 dating back into last season.

  • MLS Picks: San Jose to win (+115), risk 1 unit at Bet365

Sporting KC vs Vancouver Whitecaps Prediction

It was 1-1 when in Vancouver when these teams met on June 3. Ryan Gauld scored the tying goal in the 88′ minute through a penalty. With goals in four straight, Gauld could be value in the SKC vs Vancouver props as an anytime goalscorer at +275 in the MLS odds.

While SKC got shut out at home to Chicago last week, they had been rolling offensively, scoring in six straight games prior and scoring 14 goals in those games. Conceding to Chicago though last week, extends a run of nine games straight where they’ve allowed a goal.

It’s been all good news in Vancouver of late for the Whitecaps. They’re Canadian Championship winners and are now undefeated in four league games after last week’s 3-2 road win over LAFC. It was though, a very rare road win for Vancouver, having failed to win in any of their 15 previous away matches.

After St. Louis’ 37 goals, Vancouver are the West’s second-highest scorers with 30 goals. Overall, their xG of 28.8 is only behind Seattle’s of 31.4 in the league. The Caps have scored in nine straight games, but have also conceded in 8/9.

A bet on both teams to score would’ve been 8-1 in recent Vancouver games, while the same bet would’ve been 6-1 in recent SKC games.

  • MLS Picks: Both teams to score & over 2.5 (-105); risk 1 unit at Bet365

Atlanta United vs Philadelphia Union Prediction

Our MLS predictions would not be complete without touching on something from Sunday’s standalone matchup between Atlanta and Philadelphia.

The Five Stripes are coming off a 4-0 smackdown in New York last week, allowing one of the league’s lower scoring teams to have their best offensive output of the season. Atlanta may be sixth in the East, but they’ve actually only won 1/7 and 2/11 recent league games and 2/12 overall.

Coming back home to Mercedes-Benz Stadium should help. They’re 6-3-1 on their home pitch, have scored 24 goals in those ten games and are undefeated in four: 2-2 (D), 3-1 (W), 3-3 (D) and 4-0 (W).

Jim Curtain’s Union are rounding into form and sit fourth in the East, with a chance to move into second with a win and favorable results elsewhere. Philly coasted past Miami at home last week winning 4-1 and have just a single defeat in their past 12 games.

That one defeat came on the road, a 2-1 loss to San Jose on June 10. As good as Philadelphia has been, their road form is average at 3-2-4, yet still one of the better road records in the league. They have allowed a goal in four straight road matches and in 8/9 this season.

Both teams have played to the Over this season with Atlanta being the league’s highest Over 2.5 rated team at 15-5, while Philadelphia is 12-7.

Atlanta home matches are tied for the most Over 2.5 totals this season with St. Louis at 8-2. The 3.7 average goals per match in Atlanta home games is also tied for a league-high with Columbus.

Philadelphia road games have also seen plenty of goals going 6-3 to the Over with an average of 3.0 goals per match,

Both teams offer plenty of offensive weapons here and create chances. Philly is sixth in overall xG while Atlanta is eighth. Atlanta is also sixth in shots on target. While the Union haven’t lost against Atlanta in any of their past six matchups, they’ve also only ever won 1/7 games played in Altanta.

Let’s back goals for our MLS predictions here at -110 in the MLS odds for both teams to score and Over 2.5 goals.
