Arsenal vs Newcastle Prediction

Newcastle might still be winless, but there’s no question Eddie Howe had an immediate impact. The Magpies were attack-first, committing bodies forward in their six-goal thriller with Brentford last weekend. Despite dropping to the bottom of the table, Newcastle must have taken confidence from that display. They suddenly look like a team that can pose a threat to sides like Arsenal on Premier League Matchday 13.

Arsenal were humiliated by Liverpool last weekend, falling to a 4-0 defeat. Mikel Arteta’s side had put together some good results, but they came unstuck when facing a top-four opponent. Beating teams they are meant to beat bodes well for the visit of Newcastle, though it will be interesting to see how they bounce back from such a humbling loss at Anfield. For all their victories accumulated against inferior opposition, the Gunners have not exactly been convincing.

Creating chances has been an issue for Arsenal at times. They have scored just 13 in 12 league matches. As is the way with Howe’s sides, though, Arsenal should have plenty of opportunities to score on Saturday. There are concerns at the other end of the pitch for Arteta, as his side rank fourth-worst in expected goals against.

Howe and Newcastle will be happy to play another open match. The Magpies’ performance against Brentford gave a clear insight into how they will play under Howe. It will be entertaining, and there should be plenty of goals.

Pick: Over 2.5 goals (-160)

Leicester vs Watford Prediction

Already eight points off the top four entering Premier League Matchday 13, it’s nearing crisis point at Leicester. Brendan Rodgers’ side were outclassed by Chelsea on Matchday 12, making it three league matches without a victory. Beating Legia Warszawa in midweek will have boosted their confidence, but the Foxes are missing some key players for this game, including Youri Tielemans and Ricardo Pereira.

Watford come into this match off a sensational 4-1 win over Manchester United. The Claudio Ranieri era has fluctuated between the woeful and the brilliant. They are a hard team to predict right now, and that task is made trickier by the absences of Ismaila Sarr and Nicolas Nkoulou.

Leicester are rightly considered favorites here. A draw would be a great result for Ranieri on his return to the King Power. Watford haven’t shown much sign of being able to keep things tight this season, however.

Both teams to score look a solid bet for this one. Neither defense has impressed this term.

Pick: Both teams to score (-150)

Crystal Palace vs Aston Villa Prediction

The Steven Gerrard era got off to a solid start with a win over Brentford. Gerrard matches up with a fellow all-time great Premier League midfielder on Premier League Matchday 13 as the Villains head to the capital to take on Patrick Vieira’s Eagles.

Palace are unbeaten in seven Premier League matches, and ranks fifth in expected goal difference per 90. With Christian Benteke hitting some overdue goal-scoring form and Eberechi Eze returning from injury – albeit likely limited to a substitute role – Vieira’s side are in a good position to notch their fourth league win of the campaign.

Villa have struggled on the road this season, picking up just three points from six matches and registering five defeats. There was an obvious new manager bounce against Brentford, but the Midlands club are very much a work in progress right now.

Palace have been unlucky to have only won three matches so far this term. They’re good value to take all three points this weekend.

Pick: Crystal Palace moneyline (+125)
