- After opening the league schedule with a two-goal performance, Robert Lewandowski has emerged as a heavy -150 favorite to claim a fifth career Bundesliga goalscoring title
- The 30-year-old has scored 30 goals on two occasions over the past four seasons
- Timo Werner has emerged as an intriguing +800 second favorite, but Dortmund’s Paco Alcacer offers value as a lengthy +1000 bet to be top goalscorer in his second Bundesliga campaign
Robert Lewandowski wasted no time getting on the scoresheet when the Bundesliga returned to action last week.
The 30-year-old accounted for both of Bayern Munich’s markers as the defending league champions played Hertha BSC to a 2-2 draw, and has been rewarded on the odds to be the top goalscorer in the Bundesliga this season. He is now perched as a heavy -150 favorite in European soccer futures wagering.

Fast Starts Nothing New to Four-Time Winner
Now entering his 10th season with the FCB, Lewandowski is showing little signs of slowing down. His fast start in league play marks the fifth year in a row that Lewandowski has found the back of the net in Bayern’s season opener, setting a new Bundesliga record, and setting the stage for him to hit 20 goals for the eighth time in his career.
Concerns remain as to whether Lewandowski is on the downside of his career after potting just one total goal over the final six matches of Bayern Munich’s march to a seventh straight Bundesliga title.
Concerns remain as to whether Lewandowski is on the downside of his career after potting just one total goal over the final six matches of Bayern Munich’s march to a seventh straight Bundesliga title. Lewandowski eventually closed out the campaign with just 22 markers after scoring 29 or more in each of the previous three seasons.
However, Lewandowski should receive plenty of help from a supporting cast that has lifted the FCB to the top of the Bundesliga championship odds as heavy -330 favorites to lift the trophy once again this season.

Midfielder Serge Gnabry returns to action aiming to reach double digits in goals for a fourth straight year. The 24-year-old potted 10 goals in 30 appearances last season, and is pegged as an intriguing +4000 wager to enjoy a breakthrough and emerge as the Bundesliga’s top goalscorer this season.
Of course, Thomas Muller is once again expected to play a key role in Lewandowski’s success while playing alongside the Polish national team captain, while a pair of new additions, youngster Jann-Fiete Arp and veteran midfielder Philippe Coutinho, are expected to have an immediate impact.
However, Lewandowski will likely face stiff competition in the goalscoring race, most notably from Timo Werner, who sits second on the Bundesliga goalscorer odds, at +800, ahead of Paco Alcacer, who sits third at +100.

Speculation Swirls Around Werner’s Future in Leipzig
Werner is coming off a solid finish to last season, scoring five times in his final eight outings to finish with 16 markers on the season, and powering RB Leipzig to a third-place finish on the Bundesliga table, 12 points back of Bayern.

The future of the 23-year-old was the subject of much speculation during the offseason. With Leipzig management looking to commit to a long-term contract extension, rumors persisted that Werner could be planning an eventual move to Bayern. Werner should be highly motivated to produce this season, but will need to demonstrate the form that got him 21 goals back in 2016/2017 if he is to have any chance of winning the goalscoring title.
Alcacer Offering Plenty of Value
Set to turn 26 later this month, Alcacer had an instant impact in his Bundesliga debut last season with Borussia Dortmund. The Spanish attacker impressed with 10 goals in his first nine outings at Dortmund before cooling off somewhat and finishing the campaign with 18 goals in 26 appearances.

With Alcacer in the fold, Dortmund came to within two points of bouncing Bayern from their familiar perch atop the Bundesliga table last season, and the club returns to action as intriguing +275 second favorites to claim the league title this time around.
And with the loan deal that drought him to Dortmund now finalized, the former Barcelona star will face high expectations playing alongside Marco Reus, who trails as a +1400 bet on the Bundesliga top goalscorer odds. After scoring 17 goals last season, he’s worth serious consideration as a value bet this time around.
Pick: Paco Alcacer (+1000)
