  • Sevilla and Dortmund lock horns on Matchday 3 in the Champions League Group Stage
  • Dortmund is a slim +140 favorite in this Champions League encounter
  • Keep reading for the odds, preview, and Sevilla vs Dortmund prediction

Sevilla will be searching for their first win of the Champions League campaign as they play host to Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday, October 5th in a Group G clash. The kick-off is scheduled for 3 PM ET at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. Read on for the Sevilla vs Dortmund prediction.

The Spanish side played to a scoreless draw with competition newcomers FC Copenhagen on Matchday 2 last month and have failed to score a single goal thus far. As for BVB, they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker to last season’s finalists Manchester City.

There’s really no clear favorite here. Dortmund is at +140, while Sevilla has +185 odds. The Group G counterparts have only met twice before and that came in the 2021-22 Round of 16, where the Germans ran out as 5-4 winners on aggregate across two legs.

Neither club is considered a serious contender in the Champions League odds, though.

Over/Under & Spread

Caesars Sportsbook has the over 2.5 goals at -125 odds here, with the under sitting at -105. Sevilla has of course been dreadful in front of goal but it’s only a matter of time until that changes heading into their third UCL game.

Sevilla vs Dortmund Preview

Not much is going right for Sevilla this term. They’re currently 17th in LaLiga with just five points through seven outings and of course, dead last in their Champions League group.

Saturday was another disappointing result as they were beaten 2-0 by Atletico Madrid on home soil.  That’s now just one goal in their last three competitive matches. Also, Julien Lopetegui’s side has collected only one win all season, way back on September 10th against Espanyol. Sevilla desperately needs a victory here to keep any chance of progressing to the UCL knockout stages alive.

While Dortmund is in much better shape as a whole than Sevilla both domestically and continentally, they’re in poor form at the moment, losing three of their last four games. Over the weekend, the Black and Yellows were handed a shocking 3-2 defeat by Koln, who outplayed them. That dropped Dortmund to fourth spot in the Bundesliga.

In the UCL, Edin Terzic’s men started off with a bang, giving Copenhagen a rude awakening in a 3-0 win at Signal Iduna. Then in Manchester a week later, Jude Bellingham netted a second-half opener against the Cityzens but unfortunately, the visitors’ backline faltered as John Stones and former talisman Erling Haaland both scored within four minutes of one another.

Sevilla vs Dortmund Team Lineups and Injuries

Sevilla Projected Lineup: Bono; Carmona, Nianzou, Marcao, Telles; Jordan, Delaney, Rakitic; Gomez, En-Nesyri, Isco

Injuries & Absences: Torres, Tecatito, Rekik, Corona

Dortmund Projected Lineup: Meyer; Meunier, Sule, Schlotterbeck, Guerreiro; Can, Bellingham; Moukoko, Brandt, Hazard; Modeste

Injuries & Absences: Wolf, Hummels, Reyna, Reus, Kobel, Bynoe-Gittens, Morey, Dahoud, Schulz, Haller

There are numerous absentees for both clubs on Wednesday, especially Dortmund. That could have a significant effect on the outcome.

Sevilla vs Dortmund Prediction

Sevilla desperately needs three points but even with Dortmund’s depleted squad, I think this will end in a draw. The visitors aren’t going to risk any players who are questionable, especially with Der Klassiker coming this weekend against Bayern. They’ll share the points. The +250 is huge value.
