All five of the major European soccer leagues will be in action this weekend. The EPL, La Liga and Ligue 1 kicked off last weekend and the Bundesliga and Serie A will join the party now. With tons of soccer on the menu this weekend, we’ve scoured the soccer odds and come up with our top soccer picks today for this weekend here.

This week’s soccer predictions for today will touch on picks coming from the Premier League, Bundesliga and Ligue 1. We have three selections fron the Premier League including from what looks like the game of the round between Man City and Newcastle which sees Man City favored at -143 odds. Manchester City vs Newcastle United Picks

One week into the season and both of these sides are in the top three. It’s Newcastle though who currently sit top of the pile by virtue of goal-differential.

The Magpies won 5-1 over Aston Villa on Matchday 1, while Man City blanked Burnley 3-0.

Last season the teams drew 3-3 at Newcastle, and City won 2-0 at the Etihad. Overall, City has dominated Newcastle winning 7/8 (7-0-1) and outscoring them 27-6 in those eight games.

However, this is a much different Newcastle team since they were taken over by Saudi ownership. Newcastle were fourth last season and claimed a coveted Champions League spot. With just 33 goals conceded, they actually equaled City for the lowest goals allowed in the division.

Man City have already had some fixture congestion having just played in the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday, winning in penalties over Sevilla.

They’ve also suffered their first significant injury with Kevin De Bruyne going off injured on Matchday 1. He’ll be out for four months with a hamstring injury. City will also be missing John Stones and likely Ruben Dias and Bernardo.

I see a tight match here that ends in a draw for my soccer picks today.

Aston Villa vs Everton Picks

Aston VIlla suffered a heavy defeat in their season opener losing 5-1 to Newcastle.

Meanwhile, Everton lost at home 1-0 to Fulham. Everton just barely avoided relegation last season finishing just two points above 18th place Leicester.

Away from home they were 2-9-8 and were outscored 30-18. They conceded a goal in 17 of those 19 road games including two in a 2-1 loss to Villa near the start of the year.

But we can wind that back a little further and see they’ve conceded in 23 of 26 road EPL games.

For Villa, they ended last season on a seven-game home winning streak outscoring opponents 14-2. They scored in 17/19 at home last year as well.

In addition to that 2-1 home win over Everton last year, they also won 2-0 on the road and are 6-0-2 versus Everton in their last eight EPL games.

Fulham vs Brentford Picks

There’s been tons of goals between these teams of late with last year both teams winning 3-2 at home.

It was preseason, but in the Summer Series Fulham also won 3-2 in July, making it now 15 goals in three games, one way or another in this matchup in their past three games.

Additionally, across the past five meetings in all competitions, there have been three-plus goals and in the past six, there’s been two or more.

Last week in the EPL kickoff weekend Fulham won 1-0 in Everton, while Brentford drew Tottenham 2-2.

Star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic is currently still with Fulham, but Saudi Arabia has been pursuing the Serbian with bids coming for just shy of €50 million. For now, he’s still a Cottager and I can see goals coming from both sides for our weekend soccer picks.

Bayer Leverkusen vs RB Leipzig Picks

Both teams won at home last season, and both by 2-0 scores.

Of the 18 teams in the league, 16 saw 3.00 goals per match in their games or higher last season. So averaging three or more goals is the norm in Germany. Levekusen’s matches averaged 3.12 and RBL averaged 3.09.

That equated to 68% of Leipzig’s games going Over 2.5 totals and 65% of Leverkusen’s doing the same.

Bayer Leverkusen were sixth last year with 50 points and Leipzig were third with 66. For Leverkusen, a sixth place finish is impressive considering they were 17th when Xabi Alonso took over as coach last October.

Leverkusen aren’t the only team that benefitted from a coaching change. Marco Rose took over RBL in September and no team collected more points (61) than Leipzig from that point on in the season.

Bayer Levekusen lost top scorer Moussa Diaby but recruited Victor Boniface, Jonas Hofmann and others. Meanwhile, Leipzig lost a ton of players, including Christopher Nkunku and basically the whole spine of their team. But spent around €150 million to re-tool the roster. Leipzig started the season strong by beating Bayern Munich 3-0 in the Super Cup in a game that saw Dani Olmo score a hat-trick.

Monaco vs Strasbourg Picks

These teams were involved in some of the highest-scoring Ligue 1 games last season.

Monaco matches averaged the second-highest goals per match behind PSG at 3.37. Meanwhile, Strasbourg’s averaged the seventh-most at 2.89.

For bets on Over 2.5, 63% of Monaco games saw 3+ goals, while 55% went Over 2.5 for Strasbourg.

Bets on both teams scoring proved to be a winner 71% of the time when betting Strasbourg games which was the most in Ligue 1. That bet hit in 63% of Monaco’s matches.

Those trends played out in these teams’ head-to-head encounters last season with Monaco winning 2-1 and 4-3.

All of those trends continued last weekend on Matchday 1 as Strasbourg beat Lyon 2-1 and Monaco beat Clermont 4-2.
