Premier League Predictions

We’re backing one game to have goals and another to not, in these two EPL picks, both with kickoffs on Saturday.

Brighton vs West Ham United Prediction

We’re only two rounds into the new Premier League season, but it’s Brighton who sit top of the table at 2-0-0 tied with Man City and Arsenal on six points. The Seagulls are the division’s highest scorers though having beaten both Luton and Wolves by 4-1 scorelines. Soloman March leads the team and the league in scoring after two rounds with three goals.

West Ham too are off to a strong start after drawing Bournemouth 1-1 on the road and beating Chelsea 3-1 at home. Their third goal last week came through a penalty and in the 95′ minute, but it also came despite West Ham being a man down from the 67′ minute on.

Brighton has owned this head-to-head matchup of late winning 4-0 and 2-0 last season. In fact, they’ve won each of the past three and are undefeated in the past 12 meetings at 6-6-0. West Ham haven’t won versus Brighton since way back in 2012. Now there were many years when they didn’t play, but each of those 12 games have come since Brighton returend to the EPL in 2017. They’ve also scored in all 12 matches, while bets on both teams to score are 8-4 in that time.

  • Soccer Predictions: Both Teams to Score (-175), at Bet365

Everton vs Wolves Prediction

These two teams were the lowest scorers in the EPL last season with Everton scoring just 34 goals and Wolves 31.

Those trends have continued into this season where each are winless after two games and there is just one goal scored between them. Wolves are 19th at 0-0-2 after 1-0 and 4-1 losses to Man U and Brighton respectively. Everton are 20th at 0-0-2 after 1-0 and 4-0 losses to Fulham and Aston Villa.

This despite Everton having an xG of 3.3 and 11 shots on target and Wolves an xG of 4.3 and also 11 shots on target. So both have been poor, but are underforming some of their metrics.

Last they the scores were 1-1 and a 2-1 Wolves win, So we may see goals, espeically when you consider these teams are tied for the second-worst xGA in the Prem at 4.4. Only Fulahm at 6.4 is worse. But until we see either of these offenses get in gear, we won’t expect too many goals for our Everton vs Wolves picks this weekend and instead bet on the Under.

Bundesliga Predictions

To me, the most exciting game in Bundesliga Week 2 looks like this clash between Gladbach and Leverkusen at 12:30 pm EST Saturday afternoon.

Borussia Monchengladbach vs Bayer Leverkusen Prediction

This Rhineland derby has some extra spice to it as Jonas Hofmann who spent over seven seasons in Gladbach has switched sides to join Leverkusen this offseason. Hofmann had 48 goals and 51 assists in his 214 games with Gladbach and started his Leverkusen career off with an assist last week.

Last year, Bayer Leverkusen won 3-2 and the teams drew 2-2 in the second meeting. Leverkusen has gotten the best of their rivals recently with wins of 2-1, 4-0, 1-0, 4-3, and 3-1 in the previous five games as well. Bettors would’ve made money on wagers of Over 2.5 goals in this rivalry as those bets have gone 7-1 in the past eight games.

Both teams started the season with wild goalfests, with Leverkusen winning 3-2 over RB Leipzig and Borussia Monchengladbach drawing 4-4 with Augsburg. Tomas Cvancara finished the game with a brace to be one of six players to score multiple goals in Bundesliga Week 1.

Ligue 1 Predictions

Heading over to France, our Ligue 1 picks look to Friday’s standalone match between Nantes and Monaco at 3:00 pm EST.

Nantes vs Monaco Prediction

We’re three weeks into the Ligue 1 season and Monaco has risen to the top of the table after scoring seven goals in two games, beating Clermont Foot 4-2 on the road and Strasbourg 3-0 at home.

Nantes ended last season in 16th and after two losses to start this season they are 16th again. They’ve lost 2-1 to Toulouse and 2-0 to Lille. They weren’t much better in the preseason winning only 1/5 games. And outside of a win on the final matchday of last season, that’s their only win in their past 17 league games. Toulouse have also conceded a goal in 15 of those 17.

The teams tied in this venue last season 2-2 and Monaco won 4-2 at home.

Monaco are the highest scorers this season and Wissam Ben Yedder and Takumi Minamino with three and two goals respectively have gotten off to blazing starts. Nantes have conceded multiple goals in each game so far and could do so again here.

Serie A Predictions

We’re targeting one game from Serie A this weekend and it kicks off at 12:30 pm EST on Saturday.

Frosinone vs Atalanta Prediction

The newly-promoted Frosinone will host their first game back in the top flight division since the 2018/19 season. Winners of Serie B last season, they started life back in Serie A last week with a 3-1 defeat to champions Napoli.

Atalanta were on the road themselves and while they left it late, Charles de Ketelaere and Nadir Zortea scored in the 83′ and 93′ minutes to earn La Dea a 2-0 win over Sassuolo.

Frosinone only lost two home games last season but that was in the second division. Serie B teams have struggled of late taking the step up to Serie A. It will be another tough test this week facing Atalanta who finished fifth last and who strengthened this offseason with the additions of El Bilal Toure, Gianluca Scamacca and Charles De Ketelaere.
