- Tottenham, Man City and Southampton head the betting
- Arsenal and Chelsea pushing Tottenham hard in London
With the start of the English Premier League only three weeks away on Friday, August 9, 2019, oddsmakers are offering odds on how the teams are going to finish in their respective regions. They’ve looked at London, the North and the South and so we will and try and see where the value is.
Top EPL London Club Odds
Team | Odds |
---|---|
Tottenham Hotspur | +125 |
Chelsea | +175 |
Arsenal | +275 |
Watford | +6600 |
West Ham | +6600 |
Crystal Palace | +8000 |
*All odds taken 07/17/19.
Spurs on the Rise
Tottenham lead the betting in London with good reason – they are a team on the rise. Last season’s UEFA Champions League finalists moved into their brand new, state-of-the-art stadium at the backend of last season, which coincided with their thrilling Champions League rise, and which only ended at the final stage when beaten by Liverpool.
Transfer news 📝:
Tottenham Hotspur 🏴 have signed 22-year-old French midfielder Tanguy Ndombele for a club-record £65 million from Olympique Lyonnais 🇫🇷. pic.twitter.com/HpHGAJ6N3z— D O F (At 🏠) (@theDOFootball) July 2, 2019
Further good news for Spurs is that chairman Daniel Levy has loosened the purse strings this summer, and after a barren couple of transfer windows they have already spent £54 million on Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombélé and £10 million on Leeds United’s Jack Clarke (who has returned north on a season-long loan). And now having sold Kieran Trippier to Atletico Madrid, they have more cash to spend.
Emery With a Season Under His Belt
Arsenal too appear to be in a good place and will be better this season, with manager Unai Emery now having had a year’s Premier League experience under his belt. They too are looking to strengthen over the next few weeks and have already brought in Brazilian winger Gabriel Martinelli. The battle of north London will be an intriguing one.

Changes are afoot in west London too, where Chelsea have appointed former legend Frank Lampard as manager, but unlike his London rivals, he’ll not be spending big this summer. The Blues are currently under a FIFA two-window ban from signing new players, and having already lost Eden Hazard to Real Madrid, this will hamper Lampard is his quest to make Chelsea the kings of London. A season of consolidation looks likely at Stamford Bridge.
Our pick: Tottenham
Top EPL North West Club Odds
Team | Odds |
---|---|
Manchester City | -225 |
Liverpool | +170 |
Manchester United | +1800 |
Everton | +20000 |
Burnley | +40000 |
City and Reds to Lock Horns Again
The battle of the North is also likely to be the battle for the Premier League title and, basically, anyone who finishes above Manchester City and Liverpool will win the league. It’s hard to see it happening though, with both looking exceptionally well-equipped to make it another two-horse race for English football’s biggest prize.
Jurgen Klopp’s Reds, with the UEFA Champions League trophy safely tucked away in the Anfield trophy cabinet, will now see the Premier League title as their Holy Grail and so will be going all out to edge ahead of City this season, while the opposite is true of Pep Guardiola’s men.

Change of Priority for City?
City have been lavishly funded by owner Sheikh Mansour over the last decade but have yet to make a real impression on the Champions League, and so 2019/20 will see a concerted effort to put this right. As a result of these shifted priorities, this may leave the door open for Liverpool.

Manchester United, while showing signs of getting their mojo back under Ole Gunnar Solkjaer, still appear to be some way behind City and the Reds and will see a top-four Premier League finish as a sign of improvement. It’s hard to see them getting close to the other two and at +1800 odds are fair.
Our pick: Liverpool
Top EPL Southern Club Odds
Team | Odds |
---|---|
Southampton | +110 |
Bournemouth | +175 |
Brighton | +285 |
Southampton Spending Big
The battle for supremacy on the South Coast is arguably the tightest mini-battle of the lot. Southampton, who during the course of last season were teetering on the brink of the relegation zone, were saved by the arrival of new manager Ralph Hasenhüttl and will be looking upwards rather than downwards this season. They have already spent £50 million on new players in this summer window.

Down the coast at Bournemouth, Eddie Howe too has been strengthening his squad, albeit on a smaller scale, and the Cherries will again be looking for a top-half finish for a squad that is settled and possesses quality. Their stability may just be the deciding factor here, particularly with the Saints having to embed several new players into their squad.
Anyone who finishes above Manchester City and Liverpool will win the league.
Seagulls Aiming to Survive
Brighton survived relegation by just a couple of points and, despite bringing in Graham Potter to replace the sacked Chris Hughton, look the least well-equipped to win this mini-league. A season free of the threat of relegation will, for them, be regarded as a success and +285 offers little value.
Our pick: Bournemouth
