  • The United States Women’s National Team kicks off the semi-final round of the Olympic Tournament Tuesday at Noon ET against Germany.
  • Team USA easily handled Germany last week in the Group stage, 4-1 to ensure progression in the tournament. Now, they rematch with a shot at the Final and Gold Medal on the line.
  • See the best picks, odds and a prediction for Tuesday’s game below.

The U.S. Women’s National Team faces a familiar foe Tuesday at Noon in the semi-final round of the Olympic Tournament. The winner of Tuesday’s matchup faces off against the winner of Brazil v. Spain for a shot at the Gold Medal.

The United States is undefeated in Paris thus far. They came close against Japan in the quarter-final round though, needing a miraculous extra time goal by Trinity Rodman:

Germany has been no slouch this tournament, either. They’ve swept the field thus far except for their loss to the United States, downing Australia, Zambia and Canada to advance to Tuesday’s Semi-Final round.

Team USA, as expected, is the fairly heavy favorite to win in regulation on Tuesday, sitting at -105 odds. A regulation draw has the 2nd best odds at +250 while Germany brings up the rear with +300 odds to win outright.

Of course, there are no true ties in Olympic play. The game advances to penalty kicks following extra time, which Germany is no stranger to as they needed penalties to beat Canada after a scoreless regulation.

Want to keep it simple and bet on who advances to the Final Round instead of betting regulation play? Team USA holds -195 odds to advance while Germany sits at +160 per Fanatics.

Best Props for USWNT vs. Germany (Aug 5)

Player Props Odds
Mallory Swanson anytime Goalscorer +210
Both Teams to Score: Yes -125
Team USA Over 1.5 Goals +105

All odds above via DraftKings Sportsbook.

Mallory Swanson currently leads the USWNT with 3 goals scored in Paris, including a pair of goals against Zambia on July 25. The front line of Swanson, Rodman and Sophia Smith has been pretty much unstoppable this entire tournament, but she’s arguably been the best of the group.

It’s hard to imagine Germany not getting one on the board Tuesday, though they have been held scoreless once before in regulation by Canada. With a chance at a Gold Medal on the line, it’s don’t bet on the inverse.

Team USA has already shown they can get passed German goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger these Olympics. At +105 odds, this seems to be a favorable line.

USWNT vs. Germany Prediction

  • USWNT vs. Germany pick: USA -105

It’s hard to bet against the U.S. Women’s National Team right now, so I’m taking them to keep their hot streak going and win in regulation.

Team USA put up a defensive clinic in their first matchup against Germany, and Germany has struggled to produce consistent offense throughout this entire tournament against the best opponents in their bracket. Their most impressive offensive performance came against Australia in their first game of the tournament.

Frankly, I think there’s a chance this one isn’t close.
