  • The Indiana Fever (0-2) head to New York to take on the Liberty (2-0) for the second time in this young WNBA season
  • Caitlin Clark only scored nine points in her home debut for the Fever in a 102-66 loss to the Liberty on Thursday night
  • Read below for the picks for Saturday afternoon’s game and a Caitlin Clark prop

It’s Game 3 of the Caitlin Clark era in Indiana! The Fever haven’t gotten off to a very good start to the season, losing both games and failing to cover the spread in each. Following a 102-66 loss to the Liberty on Thursday night in Indianapolis, Clark and company head to the Big Apple on Saturday afternoon to try to score their first victory.

Saturday’s game tips off at 1 p.m. ET and can be seen on ESPN.

Indiana Fever vs New York Liberty Picks

  • New York Liberty -13 (-110)
  • Caitlin Clark over 3.5 3-pointers made

The Liberty made it to the WNBA Finals last year for a reason. Breanna Stewart was the league MVP and this squad is built to win now. The Fever are an up-and-coming team, but they still need some time to develop. Look for the Liberty to score another convincing victory over Indiana today.

But also, look for Clark to regain some confidence. Now that she’s seen this team once, she should be able to figure out some ways to score. You can get her odds to make 4+ 3-pointers at +100 over at bet365, which is a good deal. It’s too early in her young career for her to stop shooting. Her coach and teammates will work to get her good looks. She’ll make a few more of them this afternoon.

At this point in the young season, it’s not about racking up wins for the Fever. It’s about getting Clark and Aliyah Boston trending in the right direction for the rest of the year.

Caitlin Clark Off To Slow Start Shooting

Those who expected Clark to show up in the WNBA and keep putting up the same sort of numbers she did at Iowa have been disappointed through 2 games.

In those 2 games, both losses for the Fever, Clark has 29 points on a combined 7-for-23 shooting (5-for-18 from 3-point range). She’s a perfect 10-for-10 from the free-throw line, which has allowed her to at least put up decent numbers.

Defensively, she’s committed nine fouls in her two games, so she has work to do there, as well.

But it’s important to step back a bit. Yes, there was a ton of hype around her entering the WNBA. But she’s only played two games. It’s going to take some time to adjust to the pro ranks. Plus, the Fever were picking first in this year’s WNBA Draft for a reason.

The Fever went 13-27 in 2023, finishing last in the Eastern Conference. They were the third-worst team in the league, ahead of only the Phoenix Mercury and Seattle Storm.

Basically, the message is this — stay calm. Clark will find her shooting touch in the pro ranks. Aliyah Boston, last year’s No. 1 overall pick and the 2023 WNBA Rookie of the Year, is a worthy companion for Clark as she looks to lift the Fever out of the cellar.

The Fever might struggle this year again, but don’t sell your long-term stock in Clark.
