Odds as of June 19th

Sun, Sky Feature Battle of Top Teams

The first matchup of the night between Connecticut and Chicago will be an entertaining game between two surging WNBA teams. The Sun (8-4) are in third place in the league standings, while the Sky (6-7) are in sixth place, having won four straight.

Connecticut has tapered off a bit since its hot start, having lost two in a row. The Sun have been led by Jonquel Jones all season, averaging a team-best 21.6 points and 10.4 rebounds, but Jones has been away from the team for EuroBasket and her absence has been felt.

Chicago is one of the hottest teams in the league, winners of four in a row after beginning the year 2-7, and the return of Candace Parker has sparked that surge. Parker is averaging 13.2 points, 8.4 rebounds and four assists a game, with Kahleah Copper leading the team with 14.6 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.

This will be a close contest, but the Sky are too hot right now so expect them to likely squeeze out a close victory at home.

Struggling Fever Visit Mystics

No team has struggled quite like Indiana has this season, which will play in the favor of Washington in the nation’s capital.

The Fever (1-13) have lost nine in a row, with Kelsey Mitchell being really the only bright spot for Indiana, averaging 15.6 points and 2.5 assists per game.

The Mystics (5-6) have been led by Tina Charles, who has been spectacular for Washington averaging 24 points and 8.4 rebounds. Ariel Atkins has also played well, averaging 19.3 points a contest.

Washington will take care of business against a rough-looking Indiana team Saturday night.

Rematch Between Lynx and Wings

Minnesota and Dallas will face off for the second time in the last few days, having played each other in Arlington on Thursday with the Lynx coming away with a road win.

Despite recent injuries leaving the Lynx shorthanded, they have improved as of late, winning five of their last seven games to sit at 5-6. Napheesa Collier leads the team with 17.8 points, 6.4 rebounds and three assists a game, while Sylvia Fowles has been dominant with 16.3 points, nine rebounds and a league-best 2.5 steals a game.

The Wings (5-7) have lost two straight, but have been much better this season than their record displays, losing most of those games by close margins. Arike Ogunbowale (20.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists) and Marina Mabrey (15.5 points, 5.3 rebounds) have led Dallas all year long and will do so again Saturday.

It’s hard to beat a team twice on their home floor, so we will likely see Dallas respond strong after losing to Minnesota a few nights ago and come away with a win at home in the rematch.

Best Bet of the Night

The odds going into the night are as expected going into the tripleheader, with the Connecticut and Chicago game, as well as the Minnesota and Dallas game, likely to be close contests. In the Indiana and Washington game, the Mystics are favored by a decent margin.

For the best best of the night, go with the Sun and Sky game, as that game could go either way despite Connecticut being a bit shorthanded. The Sun are still a really good team, and will likely cover that 4.5-point spread on the road in Chicago.

  • The Pick: Connecticut +4.5 (-102)
