Established in 1933 by Art Rooney, the Pittsburgh Steelers forged a standard of excellence defined by physical defense and stability. Pittsburgh captured four Super Bowls in six years during the 1970s “Steel Curtain” dynasty (9, 10, 13, 14) and added two more (40, 43) to become one of the NFL’s winningest franchises. Hall of Fame icons include “Mean” Joe Greene, Terry Bradshaw, Franco Harris, Jack Lambert, Rod Woodson, and Troy Polamalu.

Acrisure Stadium is positioned at the confluence of the Allegheny, Monongahela, and Ohio Rivers on Pittsburgh’s North Shore. The open-air stadium seats 68,400 spectators and features a natural Kentucky Bluegrass surface.
The “Three Rivers” geographic setting makes wind and cold prime factors in Pittsburgh. Gusts blow off the river waters directly into the open south end zone, making kicks toward the scoreboard notoriously difficult. Cold rains, heavy mud, and freezing winter temperatures often turn late-season clashes into physical, defensive grinds.
