  • Kyler Murray won the 2018 Heisman Trophy
  • Nick Bosa is the younger brother of Chargers Defensive End Joey Bosa
  • Dwayne Haskins was a Heisman nominee and left Ohio State after only 1 year as the starting Quarterback

Nick Bosa has long been favored to be selected first overall in the upcoming 2019 NFL Draft, but his grasp on the position seems to be slipping.

After Kyler Murray officially measured at 5’10 1/8 at the combine, oddsmakers have improved Murray’s odds of being the first name called.

Odds to be Selected 1st Overall in 2019 NFL Draft

2019 NFL Draft 1st Overall Pick Odds
Nick Bosa -200
Kyler Murray +200
Dwayne Haskins +1000
Quinnen Williams +1000
Ed Oliver +1400
Josh Allen +1400

*Odds taken 3/1

Back on February 12th, Murray was a more distant +500 to be selected first-overall in the 2019 NFL Draft, with Quinnen Williams also possessing shorter odds than him.

But the Murray hype train is real and with the new information available to scouts he is absolutely a threat to be picked number one.

There are six names listed in the odds above but you can cross out Josh Allen, Ed Oliver, and Quinnen Williams.  It’s a three-horse race between Murray and the pair of Ohio State Buckeyes.  Here’s the case for each of the realistic options.

Could The Arizona Cardinals Take Kyler Murray?

Kliff Kingsbury is the new head coach for the Cardinals and his love for Kyler Murray has been well documented.

The Cardinals took Josh Rosen in the 1st round only a year ago, but the fact is he wasn’t selected with this coaching staff in place. Trading Rosen for draft capital and using the #1 selection on Murray is absolutely an option.

Murray is almost the exact same size as Russell Wilson and has many of the same skills. With an offensive-minded coach at the helm, the opportunity to take Murray as the new face of the franchise may be too enticing to pass up.

Nick Bosa Long Favored To Go #1 Overall

Nick Bosa has been the projected number 1 pick for a long time now and the odds available still have him listed in that spot.

After suffering an injury early in the 2018 season with the Buckeyes, Bosa decided not to return to the field, instead focusing on the NFL draft. The fact he hasn’t been in the public eye as recently could be leading to some of the attention landing on other players.

There are a couple ways that Bosa remains the number one pick.

  1. Arizona goes for the safe selection, taking the likely best player on the board and selects him
  2. Arizona deciding they want Murray and knowing they could draft him in a different slot and trading back

Is Dwayne Haskins The Best QB Available?

It’s easy to compare Murray to Wilson and jump to the conclusion that the Oklahoma QB deserves to go number 1.

But for every undersized QB like Wilson, or even Drew Brees, there’s a laundry list of names that didn’t work out.

Dwayne Haskins on the other hand has the prototypical size at 6’3 and a crazy accurate arm. He threw for 4,831 yards last year with 50 TD and only 8 INT.

There have been rumors the New York Giants are interested, but they may need to move up from their slot to get their guy. One detractor for Haskins could be the amount of games he’s played, as he was only the starting QB at Ohio State for one season.

Best Bet

If you’re looking for the best opportunity of guys with lottery ticket-like odds, Haskins at +1000 would be the pick. But it’s still overwhelmingly likely it’s his teammate that gets called first by Roger Goodell.

PICK: NICK BOSA (-200)
