- Mahamed Salah has the shortest odds to win the 2019 Golden Boot
- A trio of the EPL’s finest are hot on Salah’s heels
- Expect some final day drama
The final weekend of the EPL season sees the title still up for grabs with Liverpool and Manchester City both still in with a shot, but an interesting sub-plot running alongside is the race for the 2019 Golden Boot – awarded to the EPL’s top goalscorer.
Odds to Win 2019 EPL Golden Boot
Player | Goals | Odds to Win Golden Boot |
---|---|---|
Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) | 22 | -300 |
Sergio Aguero (Manchester City) | 20 | +300 |
Sadio Mane (Liverpool) | 20 | +1000 |
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal) | 20 | +1200 |
Jamie Vardy (Leicester City) | 18 | +10000 |
Raheem Sterling (Manchester City) | 17 | +12500 |
Odds taken 05/11/19.
Salah’s odds obviously reflect his two-goal lead going into the final day but with so much at stake, it would be wrong to assume there are no twists or turns left to come. It’s been that kind of season.

Pressure on City
For Salah and Sadio Mane there is a huge incentive to add more goals to their tallies. Liverpool are only a point behind Manchester City, and have a home game against Wolves on Sunday which, if they win handsomely, will heap pressure on to City.

The matches are played simultaneously but news will filter through to where City have a tricky away game on the south coast at Brighton, and with the outcome technically out of Liverpool’s hands, before a ball has been kicked, the Reds simply have to win. Therefore we expect both Salah and Mane to have chances to score.

Man City’s Sergio Aguero is obviously caught up in this same merry-go-round and will be looking to find the goal at Brighton that will give his side the league title but such is the pressure, it’s hard to see City cutting loose on what will be a really tense afternoon.
Value with Aubameyang
If we’re looking for value in the race for the Golden Boot then perhaps it can be found a little further down the table in the form of Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gunners have all but blown their chances of fourth place – which brings with it Champions League qualification for next season – but still have the faintest of chances which requires them to overturn an eight-goal goal-difference.
Arsenal are away at Burnley so an emphatic win there would heap pressure on a depleted Spurs who face a buoyant Everton in their new stadium.
It would be wrong to assume there are no twists or turns left to come. It’s been that kind of season.
Although unlikely, a goal-fest from the Gunners would make it very interesting if Tottenham were to lose, and with Aubameyang in fine goalscoring form – he scored a hat-trick in midweek in their Europa League semi-final in Valencia – he’d be almost certain to be among the goals.
Four-Way Battle
Realistically, Jamie Vardy and Raheem Sterling are a little too far off the pace to win this year’s Golden Boot but it does remain a four-way battle.
So, the safe money will remain on Salah and with good reason. Although not in prolific form, his incentive to add to his 22 goals is huge and it is quite hard to see anyone usurping him for the trophy, but the dreamers out there, those who like an inventive bet, must be drawn to Aubameyang who is red hot right now and has every reason to cut loose at Burnley.
Salah will remain our pick for all the reasons stated but we certainly wouldn’t discourage a small cheeky bet on Aubameyang, who we feel may spring a surprise.
Pick: Mo Salah (-300)
