The Titans opened as 2.5-point chalk in the wake of Sunday afternoon’s loss before seeing the line quickly slip to -1.5 by the end of Sunday’s NFL action.

Tennessee’s loss to the Colts as a 3-point favorite marks a major reversal in fortune after opening the season with a dominant 43-13 road win over the Cleveland Browns as 5.5-point road underdogs.

The Titans seized the opportunity against a sloppy Browns squad, piling up 31 second-half points with quarterback Marcus Mariota finding the end zone for the first time in four outings, throwing for three scores in a game for the first time since 2016.

It was a much more familiar Mariota on the field in Sunday’s loss to the Colts. Facing steady pressure from the Indianapolis defense, Mariota mustered just 154 passing yards and one TD pass while getting sacked four times for a second straight week.

Tennessee Has Dominated Jacksonville

The Titans have enjoyed regular success against the Jaguars, posting straight up wins in six of eight meetings with Marcus Mariota under center, including their past two visits to Jacksonville.

That strong track record should be of value, both on the gridiron and at the sports books, particularly in light of the Jaguars’ offensive struggles so far this season.

With Foles Sidelined, Jags Struggle to Generate Offense

While the Jaguars once again failed to get much going offensively in Week 2, they managed to come within a failed two-point conversion of a stunning upset in a narrow 13-12 loss to the Houston Texans as 7-point road underdogs.

With Nick Foles sidelined indefinitely by injury, the Jaguars were forced to go with rookie Gardner Minshewin Sunday’s Week 2 clash, with somewhat mixed results.

The Washington State product demonstrated a surprising ability to scramble, piling up 56 rushing yards, but largely failed to spur the offense until rallying the Jags on a pair of fourth-quarter scoring drives that gave the squad a chance at victory in the dying seconds.

Minshew was also sacked four times on Sunday while as Jacksonville suffered its 12th loss in 14 outings, and seventh loss in eight road contests.

Week 2 Loss Extends Jags’ Lengthy Swoon

The Jaguars have now scored fewer than 20 points in 12 of 16 outings, including six of eight home dates. That trend extends to meetings with the Tennessee, with the team scoring just 10.25 points per game over their past four meetings.

As a result, it will not be surprising to see the line continue to move in the Titans’ favor.

However, the Titans’ inconsistency and shaky pass defense, along with the trend towards low scoring when these two teams meet, will likely temper any big moves on the betting line. That should leave Tennessee pegged as a narrow favorite, barring any breaking new that could affect the lineup entering Thursday night’s contest.
