Left-hander Sean Manaea (6-3, 3.01) will pitch for Oakland, which is a small favorite, against Johnny Cueto (5-3, 4.05).
The Athletics (46-31) are coming off a split of a four-game road series with the Texas Rangers and have lost four of their last six games. However, Oakland has won 11 of their last 16, is 15-6 in June, and 29-16 in night games.
The Giants (48-26) just swept a two-game road series from the Los Angeles Angels. San Francisco has won eight of its last nine and 20 of 27 while standing at least 20 games over .500 prior to July for just the sixth time since divisional play began in 1969.

Of Manaea’s 15 starts this season, eight of have been of the quality variety.
Against the Giants, Manaea is 2-1 in his career with a 2.73 ERA in five starts. He is 1-0 with a 3.27 ERA in two starts at Oracle Park.
Manaea is 2-2 with a 3.34 ERA in six road starts this season and 4-1 with a 2.85 ERA in nine outings at night.
Athletics closer Lou Trivino has been shutting the door consistently this month as he has not allowed a run in June in 10 games and 9.2 innings. He also has gone 18 games and 17 innings since May 8 without surrendering an earned run.
He also understands launch angle.

The Giants are likely to be without first baseman Brandon Belt, who injured his right knee Wednesday while running the bases against the Angels. He underwent an MRI on Thursday’s off day and is expected to be placed on the injured list.
Third baseman Wilmer Flores (tight right hamstring) is expected back in the lineup after sitting out Wednesday.
The Giants have scored at least five runs in nine straight games.
Right fielder Mike Yastrzemski has led the charge with four home runs and 12 RBIs in his last 11 starts. Center fielder Steven Duggar has eight RBIs and six extra-base hits in his last eight starts.
Cueto Ends Skid
After losing his previous two starts, Cueto got back in the win column last Friday as the Giants downed the visiting the Philadelphia Phillies. He went six innings and allowed three runs on six hits while striking out five and walking none.
He was effective even when he had problems keeping his footing.

Cueto has posted quality starts in just three of his 11 games. He is 4-2 with a 3.38 ERA in six home games and 1-0 with a 5.14 ERA in four starts at night.
Cueto will be making his fourth career start against Oakland after going 1-0 with a 2.57 ERA.
The Giants bullpen has had a terrific June with a 1.95 ERA and San Francisco’s overall record is 14-6 this month.

The Athletics’ Matt Olson is 2 for 6 against Cueto with both hits being home runs. The first baseman is also hitting .404 with seven home runs, 21 RBIs and 20 runs scored in his last 22 games.
Left fielder Tony Kemp has reached base in 13 straight games for the Athletics, who are hitting .256 on the road and .222 at home.
Right fielder Mark Canha’s status is questionable after he left Thursday’s win over the Rangers in the third inning with a left hip strain. He is scheduled for a MRI on Friday.
Nearly Straight A’s in 2020
The teams are meeting for the first time this season after the Athletics took five of six games from the Giants last year.
Second baseman Jed Lowrie drove in two runs Thursday in the Athletics’ 5-1 victory over the Rangers. He hit an RBI single and center fielder Ramon Laureano doubled in a run during a three-run first inning.
On Wednesday, the Giants rallied for seven runs in the 13th inning of their 9-3 victory over the Angels. Duggar had an RBI double in the 12th and a two-run single in the 13th.

The Giants are rolling. However, nighttime has proven to be the right time for the Athletics and the wrong time for Cueto this season.
The Pick: Athletics (-110)
