- The Bucs are winless (0-5) against the spread as a road favorite this season
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the defending Super Bowl champions. However, it’s the Indianapolis Colts who are the hottest team in the NFL.
The Colts opened the season 1-4. Since then, they’ve gone 5-1 and played themselves right back into playoff reckoning in the AFC. Last week, Indy went up to Buffalo and put a 41-15 whipping on the Bills.
Tampa Bay ended a two-goal losing streak by swatting the New York Giants 30-10. Ignoring the hot streak of the Colts, oddsmakers are going with the Buccaneers as the 3-point road chalk in this game. Indianapolis is 7-4 against the spread this season.

Buccaneers vs Colts Line Movement
Even with Indy’s success of late, the public NFL betting trends are still solidly backing the Buccaneers in spread wagering, Tampa Bay is seeing 62% of handle and 77% of bets at a line of Buccaneers -3.
The moneyline bettors, though, are bucking the trend of going with the Buccaneers and are playing the underdog Colts at +142. Moneyline wagers are seeing 72% of handle and 56% of bets going with Indy.

At 53 points, this game features the largest total of the NFL’s Week 12 schedule. After watching these two teams combine to score 71 points last week, bettors aren’t bothered in the least by the high barrier. They’re going with the over in a big way. All but 4% of handle and 70% of bets are going with the over.
Will the Bucs Stop Taylor?
Indianapolis running back Jonathan Taylor leads the NFL in rushing with 1,122 yards. Tampa Bay’s defense is the best in the NFL at stopping the run. The Buccaneers are allowing just 78.4 yards on the ground per game.
Something has to give. They both can’t excel on Sunday. Last week, Taylor carved through Buffalo’s #3 run defense for 185 yards. He’s gone off for 795 yards in his last six games and is averaging 157.7 yards over the past three games.
Last eight games for #Colts RB Jonathan Taylor:
– 114 yards, 1 TD
– 169 yards, 2 TDs
– 158 yards, 2 TDs
– 110 yards, 1 TD
– 122 yards, 1 TD
– 200 yards, 2 TDs
– 126 yards, 2 TDs
– 204 yards, 5 TDs pic.twitter.com/t4Bs0B5Clh— Ari Meirov (@MySportsUpdate) November 21, 2021
Taylor has scored a touchdown in eight successive games. Indy is 6-0 when the offense gains 125 yards or more on the ground. The Colts are 0-5 when they don’t.
Buccaneers vs Colts Injury Report
The Colts only list two injuries among their starters. However, both players are major pieces of Indy’s puzzle.
All-Pro left guard Quenton Nelson (ankle) is questionable. On the defensive side, weakside linebacker and tackling machine Darius Leonard (ankle) is also questionable.
When Bucs’ WR Antonio Brown initially hurt his ankle on a Thursday night at Philadelphia, team doctors told him it would be a six-week injury, per a source. This will be the fifth game and sixth week that Brown will be out. Returning next week would be what doctors expected.

For the Buccaneers, wide receiver Antonio Brown (ankle) is out. Left guard Ali Marpet (oblique) is doubtful.
Defensively, nose tackle Vita Vea (knee), perhaps the club’s best run stopper, is questionable. Left inside linebacker Devin White (quadricep) is also questionable.
Buccaneers vs Colts Betting Trends
Since the start of the 2020 NFL season, Tampa Bay is 18-0 in games in which the Buccaneers took a lead to the locker room at halftime.
Buccaneers QB Tom Brady is 5-4 all-time against the Colts. Brady, who leads the NFL with 29 TD passes, has thrown for 300+ yards in five of 10 games this season.
Interesting observation from Colts coach Frank Reich about the Buccaneers: "They have the highest percentage of heavy boxes in the NFL, but they've still mixed in a bunch of zone coverages."
Obviously with Jonathan Taylor's exploits, this is notable.

The Indianapolis defense owns an NFL-leading 25 takeaways. Brady has thrown five of his eight interceptions and lost two of his three fumbles this season on the road.
Buccaneers vs Colts Prediction
This will be the sixth game played by the Buccaneers at Indianapolis. They are 1-4 there so far. Tampa Bay’s only victory at Indianapolis came in 1997, a 31-28 triumph.

Only Green Bay (nine), Dallas (eight) and Arizona (eight) show more ATS wins this season than the seven posted by the Colts.
Tampa Bay is 0-5 this season as a road favorite and are also 0-3 straight up in Sunday afternoon road games this season. The Colts are 5-0-1 ATS in their last six games against the Buccaneers.
