High-Flying Reds
Liverpool’s hopes of achieving English soccer’s first-ever quadruple are still alive after a second-string XI beat an equally-weakened Norwich team 2-1 on Wednesday in the FA Cup. This came just three days after the Reds claimed the first domestic silverware of the season in England, winning the League Cup via a penalty shoot-out win over Chelsea.

While Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has dismissed talk of the quadruple, this is still in their sights as the Reds have reduced the gap between themselves and EPL leaders Man City to six points. They also have a game-in-hand on City, who play United in the Manchester derby on Sunday.
Liverpool Piling Pressure on Man City
With just 12 games to go, all Klopp’s men can do is, as the cliché goes, take each game as it comes and, by winning them, gradually exert pressure on City. Tricky games like this one, against top-five opponents, are doubly important especially when they coincide with the Citizens also having what, on paper, looks to be a difficult game.

The good news for Liverpool is that their home form is excellent – the win over Norwich was their 11th on the spin. Six of those wins have come in the EPL and it’s worth noting that they have not dropped a single Premier League point at Anfield since the end of October.

FA Cup Exit at St Mary’s
West Ham’s defeat at St Mary’s in midweek has left them, domestically, with just a place in next season’s Champions League to play for. Despite David Moyse picking a full-strength line-up and Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl playing a mixed XI, it was Southampton who progressed to the quarterfinals thanks to an impressive 3-1 win.

West Ham still has a Europa League round-of-16 battle with Sevilla to look forward to, but their stated aim is to go one better next season and participate in the Champions League. Realistically, they are locked in a four-way battle with Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham for the fourth and final place UCL place.
Hammers to Do the Double?
The Hammers did their chance of claiming that fourth spot no harm last weekend when they beat Wolves 1-0 at the London Stadium – a result that left them just two points adrift of Man United in fourth.

To win at Anfield is a big ask for Moyes’ men though as they have won just twice on their travels in the Premier League in their last eight attempts, although they did beat Liverpool 3-2 at home back in November in the reverse fixture. On the minus side, Liverpool has won the last four meetings between these two on Merseyside.
Liverpool vs West Ham United Picks
With Liverpool having both Man City and the quadruple in their sights, it’s hard to find any logic for a West Ham win or even a draw. So relentless are the Reds at Anfield, even sides around them in the table eventually get ground down by their suffocating high-press and the wave after wave of attacks. There is little value in the straight home win but worth considering is a two-goal victory.
