Henderson vs Qually Odds & Prediction

A now 38-year-old Benson Henderson enters the cage at Bellator 285 on Friday in desperate need of a win. The two-time Bellator title challenger got back in the winner’s circle at Bellator 273 when he defeated Islam Mamedov via split-decision. The veteran American is just 2-3 in his past five fights. Ultimately, he has been a disappointment in Bellator thus far, as his record stands at just 6-6 with the promotion.

The Irish Peter Qually is a game opponent in this lightweight scrap. Coming off a loss to Patricky Pitbull, Qually is looking for some stability in his career. Since joining Bellator, he has alternated wins and losses with the promotion.

Unfortunately, it’s tough to find a path to victory for Qually. After having fought multiple grappling tournaments the past few years, Henderson has a significant advantage on the ground. Additionally, while striking is nowhere near Henderson’s best ability, his skills on the feet far outshine those of Qually.

Pick: Henderson to win (-200)

Romero vs Manhoef Odds & Prediction

Melvin Manhoef has some highlight-reel wins in his career. Manhoef has been fighting since 1995 and is undoubtedly one of the most-accomplished veterans in the sport. He deserves respect for spending nearly three decades in combat sports. However, Manhoef is 46 and his best days are long behind him.

Having said that, Yoel Romero is 45 himself and has hardly been in form lately. Once a UFC middleweight challenger, Romero lost his last three fights and fell out of the promotion. The Cuban born fighter was last seen pulverizing Alex Polizzi just before the bell at Bellator 280 in May. Before that he hadn’t won a bout since 2018 against Luke Rockhold.

Now, Romero still appears to be in shape, and has the hands and grappling ability to be a real problem for Manhoef. He’ll be the much bigger fighter in this bout, and with -800 odds it’s tough to bet against him. This is going to be a beatdown.

Pick: Yoel Romero to win (-800)

Other Bellator 285 Picks

  • Mads Burnell has a significant grappling advantage against Pedro Carvalho. Look for him to finish the fight by submission. Bet Burnell -410.
  • Parlay: Benson Henderson (-200), Yoel Romero (-800), and Mads Burnell (-410) for a +113 parlay on DraftKings Sportsbook.
